Maternity Nurse Job Description
Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Maternity Nurse to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will provide exceptional care to mothers and their newborns during the perinatal period. This role requires a strong understanding of maternal and infant health, as well as the ability to support patients through labor, delivery, and postpartum recovery. The Maternity Nurse will work collaboratively with physicians, midwives, and other healthcare professionals to ensure the highest standards of patient care.
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to mothers during labor, delivery, and postpartum recovery.
- Monitor vital signs and assess maternal and infant health status.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, including pain management techniques.
- Educate patients on infant care practices, breastfeeding, and postpartum recovery.
- Assist with laboratory tests and procedures as needed.
- Support patients in managing acute pain during labor using various techniques including botulinum toxin treatment if applicable.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop individualized care plans for patients.
- Maintain accurate patient records and documentation in accordance with healthcare regulations.
- Provide emotional support to patients and their families throughout the maternity experience.
Qualifications
- Valid nursing license (RN or LPN) in the state of practice.
- Experience in maternity or neonatal nursing preferred.
- Knowledge of pain management strategies and acute pain management techniques.
- Familiarity with infant care practices and protocols.
- Experience with dermal fillers or ophthalmology is a plus but not required.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Ability to perform CT scans or dialyze if applicable to specific patient needs.
