Job Overview
The Oncology Registrar plays a crucial role in the healthcare team, responsible for maintaining accurate and comprehensive records of cancer patients. This position involves collecting, analyzing, and managing patient data to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and facilitate quality patient care. The ideal candidate will have a strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and a commitment to supporting oncology services.

Duties

• Collect and maintain accurate cancer patient data from various sources, including medical records and treatment plans.
• Ensure compliance with state and national cancer registry requirements.
• Abstract relevant clinical information from patient charts and enter it into the cancer registry database.
• Collaborate with healthcare providers to obtain necessary documentation for reporting purposes.
• Participate in quality assurance activities to verify the accuracy of data entry and reporting.
• Assist in the preparation of reports for internal use and external regulatory agencies.
• Stay updated on changes in cancer registry standards and practices to ensure compliance.
• Provide support for research initiatives related to oncology care as needed.

Qualifications

• A degree in Health Information Management, Nursing, or a related field is preferred.
• Certification as a Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) or Certified Tumor Registrar (CTR) is highly desirable.
• Strong analytical skills with attention to detail for accurate data collection and reporting.
• Proficiency in using electronic health record systems and cancer registry software.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, for effective collaboration with healthcare teams.
• Ability to work independently while managing multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Knowledge of oncology terminology and treatment protocols is beneficial but not mandatory.
