Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse for our Operating Room team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in surgical nursing and be committed to providing exceptional patient care in a fast-paced environment. This role requires a thorough understanding of surgical procedures, patient safety, and effective communication with the surgical team.
Duties
- Prepare patients for surgery, including obtaining medical histories and performing pre-operative assessments.
- Assist in the operating room by providing direct patient care during surgical procedures.
- Maintain sterile conditions and ensure all instruments are accounted for before, during, and after surgeries.
- Monitor patients' vital signs and respond to any changes in their condition during procedures.
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Document all relevant medical records accurately and promptly.
- Educate patients and their families about post-operative care and discharge planning.
- Participate in trauma medicine situations as needed, demonstrating quick decision-making skills.
Experience
Candidates should have experience or knowledge in the following areas:
- Medical records management
- Anatomy knowledge relevant to surgical procedures
- Nursing home or assisted living environments
- IV infusion techniques
- Discharge planning processes
- Trauma medicine protocols
- Phlebotomy skills for blood draws as required
- Travel nursing experience is a plus
- Proficiency in diagnostic evaluation methods
