Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse to join our Operating Room team. As a vital member of the surgical team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality nursing care to patients before, during, and after surgical procedures.
Duties
- Prepare patients for surgery by conducting pre-operative assessments and ensuring all necessary medical records are complete.
- Assist in the administration of anesthesia and monitor patients' vital signs throughout the surgical process.
- Collaborate with surgeons and other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient outcomes during procedures.
- Maintain a sterile environment by adhering to strict infection control protocols and performing sterile processing as needed.
- Provide post-operative care, including monitoring recovery progress and managing any complications that may arise.
- Educate patients and their families about post-operative care, including family planning considerations when applicable.
- Document all nursing interventions and patient responses accurately in medical records using systems such as Epic.
Skills
- Proficient in airway management techniques and spinal tap procedures.
- Experience in home care or senior care settings is advantageous.
- Knowledge of workers compensation law as it pertains to patient care is preferred.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in maintaining accurate medical records.
- Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with multidisciplinary teams and patient education.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure while providing compassionate care.
