Overview
The Progressive Care Nurse plays a vital role in providing high-quality care to patients who require close monitoring and advanced nursing interventions. This position involves working with patients who are transitioning from critical care or those with complex medical conditions. Duties
- Assess and monitor patients' conditions, including vital signs and overall health status.
- Administer medications and IV infusions as prescribed, ensuring adherence to safety standards.
- Provide specialized care for patients requiring ostomy care and other advanced nursing procedures.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans.
- Educate patients and their families on health management, including family planning and post-operative care.
- Participate in critical care transport when necessary, ensuring patient safety during transfers.
- Maintain accurate patient records in compliance with MDS standards and documentation protocols.
- Assist in sterile processing of medical instruments to ensure a safe environment for patient care.
- Support the operations of ambulatory surgery centers and nursing homes as required.
Requirements
- Current nursing license in the state of practice.
- Proven experience in progressive or critical care settings is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of emergency medicine practices and protocols.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
- Ability to work well under pressure while maintaining a compassionate approach to patient care.
- Familiarity with family planning concepts is a plus.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) is required.
- Additional certifications related to critical care transport or specialized nursing practices are advantageous.
