Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Progressive Care Nurse to join our healthcare team. This role is essential in providing high-quality care to patients with complex medical needs, ensuring their safety and comfort during recovery. The Progressive Care Nurse will work closely with interdisciplinary teams to deliver patient-centered care in a progressive care unit, focusing on both acute and chronic conditions.
Duties
- Assess and monitor patients' vital signs and overall health status, documenting changes and communicating effectively with the healthcare team.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and best practices in medication administration.
- Provide acute pain management strategies tailored to individual patient needs, utilizing both pharmacological and non-pharmacological interventions.
- Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement comprehensive care plans for patients.
- Educate patients and their families about health conditions, treatment options, medication management, and discharge planning.
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations, ensuring patient confidentiality at all times.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing patient care outcomes.
- Support memory care initiatives for patients with cognitive impairments, promoting dignity and respect in all interactions.
- Engage in hospice palliative medicine practices for end-of-life care when necessary, ensuring comfort for patients and support for families.
Qualifications
- Current nursing license (RN) in the state of practice.
- Experience in urgent care or progressive care settings is preferred.
- Knowledge of ICD-10 coding related to patient diagnoses is advantageous.
- Familiarity with geriatrics and home community care practices is a plus.
- Strong understanding of acute pain management techniques.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to educate patients effectively.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team environment.
