ob Summary:

As a Registered Nurse in the Telemetry Unit, you will provide specialized care for patients undergoing continuous cardiac monitoring. Your primary responsibility will be to monitor heart rhythms, interpret ECGs, and manage patient care based on telemetry data. You will work closely with an interdisciplinary team to ensure high-quality patient outcomes and provide comprehensive education to patients and their families.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Cardiac Monitoring:
  • Continuously monitor patients' cardiac rhythms using telemetry equipment.
  • Interpret ECGs to identify abnormal heart rhythms, ischemic changes, or other significant findings.
  • Respond promptly to telemetry alarms and alerts, taking appropriate action as needed.
  • Patient Care:
  • Perform thorough assessments of patients’ cardiovascular status, including vital signs and physical examinations.
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, and monitor their effects on cardiac health.
  • Provide patient and family education about cardiac conditions, treatment plans, and telemetry equipment.
  • Emergency Response:
  • Participate in code blue and rapid response situations, providing necessary interventions such as CPR and defibrillation.
  • Document all emergency procedures and patient responses accurately.
  • Collaboration and Communication:
  • Work collaboratively with physicians, nurse practitioners, and other healthcare professionals to develop and update care plans.
  • Communicate significant changes in patients’ conditions and telemetry data to the healthcare team in a timely manner.
  • Maintain clear and accurate patient records, including telemetry data, nursing assessments, and care interventions.
  • Patient Safety and Comfort:
  • Ensure telemetry equipment is properly set up, calibrated, and functioning correctly.
  • Implement and adhere to infection control and safety protocols.
  • Address patient comfort and emotional needs, providing support and reassurance during their care.
  • Documentation and Reporting:
  • Accurately document patient assessments, interventions, and responses in the electronic health record (EHR).
  • Prepare and present reports on telemetry data and patient status during shift changes and team meetings.

Qualifications:

  • Education: an associate’s or bachelor’s degree in nursing from an accredited program.
  • Licensure: Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in MI.
  • Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications are required, ARRT. Telemetry certification is a plus.
  • Experience: Previous experience in telemetry, cardiac care, or a related clinical setting preferred.
  • Skills: Proficiency in interpreting ECGs, strong critical thinking and decision-making abilities, excellent communication skills, and familiarity with telemetry monitoring equipment.

Job Types: Travel nursing, Contract

Pay: $63.00 per hour

Expected hours: 36 per week
