Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Estimator to join our commercial general construction team. The Estimator will be responsible for accurately analyzing project requirements, preparing cost estimates, and collaborating with project teams to ensure successful bidding and execution. This role requires strong analytical skills, construction knowledge, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Project Analysis:
- Review project plans, specifications, and related documents to identify scope, timelines, and requirements.
- Conduct site visits to gather necessary data for accurate estimates.
2. Cost Estimation:
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor services.
- Utilize estimating software and tools to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
- Analyze historical data to inform current project pricing and identify cost-saving opportunities.
3. Bid Preparation:
- Collaborate with project managers and subcontractors to compile competitive and comprehensive bids.
- Submit bids within deadlines while adhering to company and industry standards.
4. Vendor and Subcontractor Coordination:
- Solicit and evaluate bids from suppliers and subcontractors.
- Negotiate pricing and ensure alignment with project goals and budget.
5. Collaboration and Reporting:
- Work closely with project managers, architects, and clients to address project requirements and budget constraints.
- Provide clear and concise reports, including risk assessments and cost analyses.
6. Market Research:
- Stay updated on market trends, material costs, and industry regulations.
- Identify and recommend strategies to improve estimation processes.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred. Equivalent experience may be considered.
- Experience: Minimum 3-5 years of experience in commercial construction estimating.
Skills:
- Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and industry standards.
- Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., ProEst, Bluebeam, PlanSwift, or similar) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and organizational skills.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
