Reporting to the Shelter Manager, the Overnight Shelter Coordinator, will provide nightly oversight of the Atascadero and Paso Robles Homeless Services Centers by the El Camino Homeless Organization. We are looking for a person who has a can-do attitude, is passionate about engaging individuals experiencing homelessness and/or has experience with this population. The Overnight Shelter Coordinator will oversee the overnight activities of the facility and meet the needs of the ECHO clients staying there. The position also entails completing overnight tasks such as laundry, cleaning the facility and office areas, and maintenance to keep the facility running smoothly.
In addition to the shelter coordinator duties, the Overnight Shelter Coordinator will be the primary person making decisions in emergency situations and answering other overnight volunteers’ questions. Essential Duties & Responsibilities
1. Oversees activities and general operation at the shelter site during overnight hours.
2. Assist Chaperone Volunteers with questions and support throughout the night.
3. Thoroughly notes activities throughout the night.
4. Checks in with previous shift staff and Volunteers about what occurred during their shift.
5. Evaluates the condition of the shelter premises nightly upon arrival for maintenance, upkeep or cleanliness. Will report the conditions of the shelter to the Shelter Manager.
6. Responds to the clients’ needs and assists them as needed.
7. Work with Shelter Management to ensure that overnight tasks are completed and shelter chores are being completed by the clients.
8. Assist clients with general requests and needs.
9. Completes rounds of the entire shelter areas should be completed approximately every 30 minutes throughout the shift.
10. Assist with the oversight and operations of the nightly dinner program. Welcome, train, and assist volunteers as needed.
11. Ensure the safety of all volunteers, clients, and staff during the dinner program and nightly operations.
12. Assists with shelter cleanliness by helping with the following duties, but not limited to: clean client rooms after a move out, shelter laundry, empty trash cans, break down boxes, clean the kitchen, bathrooms, and upstairs admin areas.
13. Use de-escalation skills & trauma informed care approach when client issues arise.
14. Attend trainings, weekly staff meetings, and Overnight Coordinator meetings.
15. Ensures the safety of the clients, volunteers, and shelter.
16. Assist with coverage at the Paso Robles shelter, as needed.
17. Make final decisions on client issues, operations, and emergencies during the shifts.
18. Report any issues during the shift to the Shelter Manager via email by the end of the shift.
19. The Coordinator will contact the on-call management immediately for any situations included on the provided emergency list.
20. Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

- Intermediate knowledge of Office Suite, including WORD, EXCEL, and PowerPoint.

Education and/or Experience
- High School Diploma/GED or equivalent experience.
- 1 years’ experience working for a non-profit or equivalent experience.
