FLSA Status: Part-Time, non-exempt, Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings
Department: Skate Rink
Reports to: Skate Rink Manager
Pay Range: 34.00

JOB SUMMARY:
El Centro Skate Rink security officers have an essential role in the beloved community by carrying out the security and safety of properties and premises.
As a security officer, you must conduct patrols, investigate any incidents, and create incident reports as needed. We are seeking people with excellent time-management skills, an ability to be active outdoors for long periods (regardless of the weather conditions), and a positive attitude. Excellent customer service is always your top priority. The successful candidate must be able to work in the evenings on weekends, from Friday to Sunday. The schedule may change based on emergency needs and special events.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
· High school diploma or equivalent.
· 3-5 years Security experience
· Good Verbal and written communication.
· Basic computer skills
· Ability to be a critical thinker and work under pressure
· Calm, polite, and professional behavior
· Reliable and self-motivated
· High-level customer service
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
· Check-in with the manager on-duty at the beginning of each shift
· Coordinate that the building is inspected for illegal activities, property damage, and unauthorized use of the building.
· Walk around the inside of the entire roller-rink, including the Men’s bathroom
· Walk around the El Centro Skate Rink parking lot, the Mercado, and East Side Parking Lot
· Monitor vehicles parking to make sure they park in designated areas
· Use a metal detector to make sure people coming into the Skate Rink are not carrying weapons
· Secure the building by checking for unlocked doors, windows, and unauthorized occupants.
· Prevent illegal or inappropriate actions by maintaining a high visibility presence.
· Fill out detailed incident reports as needed
· Contributes to providing a welcoming community environment for visitors and participants.
· Defuse/de-escalate disturbances and escort people from the property if necessary.
· Performs other related duties as assigned by the Skate Rink Operations Manager such as assisting with check in, checking for toe stops on skates and other related tasks.
SKILLS/TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE:
· Conflict Resolution & De-escalation
· Taser and Pepper spray use
· Familiar with the operation of Power Tools
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work may be both inside or outside of the building and on the El Centro Skate Rink campus. May have to work in inclement weather. Some overtime will be needed for additional hours. Ability to lift a minimum of 40 pounds with each arm, or a total of 80 pounds. Operates power/hand tools required in the area of assignment.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
· Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or continuous basis
· Ability to grasp, push, pull objects such as files, file cabinet drawers, and reach overhead
· Ability to operate telephone, desktop or laptop computer
· Ability to lift up to 80 lbs
