THE POSITION:
Receives general instruction from Health and Safety Coordinator to do custodial work in care of assigned child development centers and grounds according to an assigned work schedule: and perform related duties as assigned.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Sweep, scrub, wax, and polish linoleum, and various types of floors.
- Vacuum rugs and carpets.
- Clean and dust furniture, woodwork and equipment.
- Wash, scrub, and disinfect restrooms.
- Disinfect all flat surfaces.
- Clean windows, door glass, and drink fountains.
- Clean and polish metal works such as door panels and hand railings.
- Empty and clean waste containers.
- Pick up litter on grounds and sweep walkways, halls, and entrances.
- Move and rearrange chairs, tables, desks, furniture and other equipment, (not to exceed 25 pounds.)
- Maintain equipment used in the course of work and report any items requiring maintenance.
- Report safety, sanitary, and fire hazards.
- May perform routine grounds keeping duties.
- May secure buildings at end of shift.
- Maintain regular and prompt attendance in the workplace.
- Other duties as assigned

- Knowledge of cleaning methods, materials, and supplies used in custodial work.

- A criminal records clearance is required for this position, prior to interaction with children.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Bi-lingual (Spanish/English) preferred.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Department of Justice/FBI/ Child Abuse Index Clearance prior to hire.
Megans Law Clearance.
TB Test & Physical required upon hire.
Current MMR and Tdap Immunizations.
Current Influenza Immunization or wavier of decline.
Employee must obtain valid California Drivers License and Car Insurance.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand/be on feet for long periods of time. The employee frequently is required to lift up to 25 lbs, and reach with hands and arms.
