Overview:
El Dorado Community Health Centers is seeking a full-time, in-person Payroll Specialist in our Cameron Park office.
The Payroll Specialist reviews, corrects, and processes timesheets and payroll for the company’s 200 employees, ensuring compliance with federal, state and local regulations and conformance with organization policies. Responsibilities include maintaining employee records, tax and other deductions, tracking and implementing future changes at the correct times, calculating performance-based bonuses, reporting and related work on various platforms, while maintaining the highest level of confidentiality. As a member of the Finance Team the Payroll Specialist also assists Accounts Payable and Billing as well as special reports and projects.
Duties:
1. Manage workflow to ensure all payroll transactions are processed accurately and timely. Eliminate manual processes when possible. Consolidate information into effective reports for management.
2. Add new employees to the payroll software and enter adjustments on pay rates, schedules, employee status changes, benefits etc. Calculate back-dated adjustments with sensitivity to time and accuracy.
3. Establish and keep up-to-date payroll records.
4. Collect, summarize, and review timekeeping information for all employees. Enter data into payroll software for processing. Prepare timely payroll general journal postings, payroll accruals, PTO accruals, 403b contributions etc.
5. Resolve payroll discrepancies and answer payroll related questions for employees and management. Calculate and process manual checks as needed including vacation payouts and severance payments.
6. Maintain employee confidence and protect payroll operations by keeping information confidential.
7. Assist Accounts Payable and Billing with various functions.
8. Research, collect data and assist the Controller and Finance Director with special projects.
9. Receive, open and distribute mail, order supplies, and other duties as needed.
Experience:
Two years of experience in payroll or relatable accounting work
Or
Education: Associate degree in accounting, business, or math.
Knowledge of:
- High-volume Payroll
- General Accepted Accounting Principles
- HIPAA Requirements
Skills in:
- Effective oral and written communication.
- Effective organization of work and attention to detail.
- Maintaining accurate records and files.
- AP and Payroll.
- Using a computer for word processing, creating and writing formulas in Excel spreadsheets, payroll software, accounting system software, and e-mail.
Ability to:
