Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Kennel Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for animal care and a strong work ethic. As a Kennel Technician, you will be responsible for the daily care and maintenance of the animals in our facility, ensuring their health, safety, and well-being.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide daily care for animals, including feeding, watering, and exercising.
- Clean and sanitize kennels, cages, and other animal housing areas.
- Monitor the health and behavior of animals, reporting any concerns to the veterinary staff
- Schedule and administer bathing of dogs, assist with grooming.
- Maintain accurate records of animal care, including feeding schedules, medical treatments, and behavioral observations.
- Ensure all areas are safe and accessible during winter weather conditions, including shoveling snow and applying ice melt.
- Assist with intake and discharge of animals, including proper documentation and communication with pet owners.
- Provide excellent customer service to pet owners, answering questions and providing information about our services.
- Ensure a clean and safe environment for both animals and staff.
- Identify and coordinate/facilitate resolution of facility-related issues.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Able to lift 50 lbs.
- Comfortable working at heights and able to perform tasks on elevated platforms.
- Able to climb and utilize a ladder.
- Able to work independently.
- Able to use the turf machine and electric blower.
- Previous experience working with animals, preferably in a kennel or veterinary setting.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Physical ability to handle and restrain animals of various sizes.
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Compassionate and patient demeanor.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of animal behavior and basic veterinary care.
Working Conditions:
- Ability to work weekends, holidays, and evenings as needed.
- Exposure to various weather conditions when working outdoors.
- Potential exposure to animal bites and scratches.
