JOB PURPOSE:
Under the general supervision of the Supervisor - Fleet Services, is responsible for performing maintenance, repairs, and major overhauls on a variety of gasoline and diesel-powered equipment and vehicles for the Company.
EDUCATION:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Master Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Certification in Automobile or Medium/Heavy Truck.
KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Must possess required knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience and be able to explain and demonstrate with or without a reasonable accommodation that the job's essential functions can be performed.
MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Five (5) years experience as a gasoline and diesel mechanic.
- Ability to obtain a valid Class A Commercial Driver's License and D.O.T. certification within six (6) months of employment and must comply with Company's Driving Policy.
- General knowledge of open and closed hydraulic systems, air and electrical systems, welding equipment, diagnostic equipment, and specialized mechanical tools.
- Ability to obtain Mobil Hydraulic Mechanic, Fluid Power Certification (FPS) within in (6) months of employment.
- Ability to diagnose engine problems, repair and weld parts/components, maintain records on parts and repairs, and use a variety of mechanical tools.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with officers, managers, fellow employees, vendors, suppliers, and the general public.
- Ability to maintain a sense of propriety concerning confidential matters.
- Must be able to work irregular hours and overtime as required.
- Must provide own Mechanical tools and meet Dept established minimum tool requirements.
- Knowledge of the latest repair and diagnostic techniques through continuous education and certification process.
- Be computer literate with some experience with Maintenance Management Systems.
- Highly motivated individual and self-starter
- Proficient with mobile phones and tablets.
- Must pass a Human Performance Evaluation (HPE).
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
The following essential job functions are accomplished by utilizing mechanical power tools and machines, hand tools, hoists, jacks, engine parts and components, welding torch and other welding equipment, grease, fluids, and safety equipment.
- Performs major and minor overhauls, repairs, tune-ups, and other mechanical functions for company gasoline and diesel equipment and/or vehicles.
- Repairs hydraulic, electrical, and air systems, air-cooled engines, and other related components.
- Test drives equipment and/or vehicles, diagnose problems, disassemble engines, and examine parts for defects and excessive wear.
- Welds and/or solder equipment parts and components using oxy-acetylene, arc, and metal inertia gas.
- Requisitions parts, tools and equipment to perform essential job functions.
- Prepares and submits maintenance records on vehicles and equipment repaired to supervisor.
- Maintains tools and working area in a clean, orderly condition.
- Complies with all applicable Company policies, procedures, and code of ethics, as well as all applicable governmental laws and regulations, including employment, safety, and environmental standards and regulations.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- The incumbents in this classification are subject to both inside and outside environmental conditions and temperature changes of extreme cold weather (below 32 degrees for periods of more than one hour) and extreme hot weather (temperatures above 100 degrees for periods of more than one hour); and exposed to loud noises, vibration, hazards, atmospheric conditions, and oils.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
