INTERNSHIP PROGRAM OVERVIEW
As a participant of the El Paso Electric Company Summer College Internship Program, you’ll gain valuable on-the-job experience in one of our corporate divisions and advance your leadership and professional competencies through challenging work projects and development training. This unique program allows participants to network with executives and business leaders in the Company, gain electrical utility work experience, and build transferable skills such as problem-solving, teamwork, and effective communication.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications for the El Paso Electric Summer College Program include the following. All requirements must be met.
- Currently enrolled as a Full-Time Student (Undergraduate – 12 hours, Graduate – 9 hours) and taking classes.
- Must be classified as a Sophomore, Junior, Senior or Graduate student
- Students must be currently enrolled at the time of application and taking classes in an accredited college or university in the United Sates.
- College seniors may apply for the program and participate immediately after graduation but must be enrolled in graduate school at the time of their interview.
- Individuals who have taken college courses but are currently taking “time off” from school are ineligible.
- Students must have an overall G.P.A of 3.0 or above.
- Students must be in “good standing” with their respective university to participate in our program. This includes G.P.A., classification, and number of credit hours earned.
- Schools will be contacted to verify eligibility
- Must be pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in;
- Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, Environmental)
- Accounting/Finance (Tax, Budget, Regulatory)
- Business Administration (HR, Training, Safety, PR, Communications, Supply Chain, Project Management, Economics)
- Pre-Law (Legal, Regulatory, Compliance, Security, Political Science)
- Information Technology (Network Administration, Programming, Information/Cyber Security)
or an otherwise related field that would be relevant to El Paso Electric’s business model and operation functions.
4. Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
5. Must have reliable transportation to report to work location.
Students must meet all of the above requirements to be considered for this program.
WORK LOCATION
Program participants will work in one of the following locations:
- El Paso, TX
- Las Cruces, NM
Transportation and housing will not be provided to program participants. If needed, participants will be responsible for expenses related to parking depending upon their assigned work location.
