JOB SUMMARY:
Under general supervision of the Supervisor – Facilities Services is responsible for performing a variety of maintenance and repair functions that include repairing of fixtures, servicing equipment, plumbing, electrical, and carpentry.
MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Five (5) or more years’ experience in a building trades or similar repair maintenance capacity.
- Proficient working knowledge of plumbing, electrical systems and HVAC.
- Proficient knowledge of building trade methods and procedures, carpentry techniques and practices and electrical hand tools.
- Ability to apply mastery of skill in area of specialization. May adapt procedures, techniques, tools, materials and/or equipment to meet special needs.
- Ability to operate various hand and electrical tools, maintain maintenance reports and have good manual dexterity.
- Ability to gather information and plan tasks accordingly.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with officers, managers, fellow employees, representatives of other utilities, outside consultants and the public.
- Ability to maintain a strong sense of propriety concerning confidential matters.
- Valid driver's license and must comply with the El Paso Electric Driving Policy.
- Ability to obtain the other: Backflow Prevention Assembly Tester (BPAT) in Texas and or Backflow Testing & Certification in New Mexico.
- Plumbing license in Texas & New Mexico preferred
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
The following essential job functions are accomplished by utilizing various hand tools and equipment.
- Performs maintenance of HVAC systems, upgrades to buildings, and maintenance and repair to equipment, tools, buildings and offices.
- Performs special projects such as panel installation, office set-ups.
- Assists in contractor coordination and escorting.
- Assures that the Company’s facilities are clean and performs general custodial/maintenance functions daily: such as sweeping, removing discarded debris, and recycling.
- Performs emergency generator repair and maintenance.
- Installs, repairs and replaces building fixtures, electrical apparatuses and other fixtures.
- Installs and maintains pipe systems and makes plumbing repairs.
- Applies and pulls plumbing permits as required.
- Paints, repairs and builds minor structures.
- Services equipment, changes motors, pumps and/or V-belts.

Works on locks and locking mechanisms.

Maintains maintenance records of repairs, replacements and installations.

Accountable for time, material, and direct expenses connected with projects.

May orient, train, assign and check the work of lower level employees.

Complies with all applicable Company policies, procedures and code of ethics as well as all applicable governmental laws and regulations to include employment, safety and environmental standards and regulations.

ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS:
The incumbents in this classification are subject to both outside and inside environmental conditions and temperature changes; exposed to loud noises, where the incumbents have to shout in order to be heard; exposed to hazards including a variety of physical conditions, such as a proximity to moving mechanical parts, electrical current, high places, exposure to high heat and/or to chemicals; and exposed to oils or other lubricants that may include skin exposure.
