Required Skills
Minimum Education : Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing. Bachelor's of Science in Nursing or another related field preferred.
Work Experience : Two years of experience in high acuity areas (Emergency Room, Critical Care or Transport Medicine)
Required License : Current RN or Paramedic License with the ability to practice in the State of Kentucky.
Certifications : Specialty Certification within 18 months of hire (CEN, CFRN, CTRN, CCRN, FP-C, CCP-C), Handle with Care Training during the initial introductory period, ENA Triage Training during the initial introductory period, Interqual training with case management during the initial introductory period, Successful completion of the Critical Care Indoctrination Program during the initial introductory period, Trauma Nurse Core Curriculum (TNCC) and / or Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support within the initial introductory period, Advanced Medical Life Support during the Initial Introductory Period.

- Establishes and maintains a reporting structure to the Department Director and Providers on shift.
- Assists with the onboarding of new employees.
- Provides feedback to staff through concurrent auditing.
- Evaluates Department throughput on an ongoing basis.
- Delivers and evaluates annual competency and quality assurance goals.
- Establishes and manages Monthly Continuous Quality Improvement meetings.
- Manages the schedule for staffing the Emergency Department
- Provides Just-in-Time Education
- Implements Departmental Performance Improvement Plans
- Responsible for the selection of Departmental Leaders
- Responsible for the development of a Department Leadership Development program
- Ensures compliance with Department Policy, Procedures and Protocols
- Assists with Departmental Policy, Procedure and Protocol Development and implementation.
- Assists with the selection of new hires.
- Develops a department needs assessment to be reviewed on a quarterly basis.
- Assists with the development of a quarterly Human Patient Simulation Program
- Assists with development and revision of the Emergency Department / Critical Care Education Blueprint.
- Assists with the development and implementation of a Departmental Patient Safety program.
- Assists with and drives the focus of the Emergency Department Professional Practice Council
- Assists with the Development of an Emergency Department Clinical Ladder
- Rounds on and serves as a liaison between patient, clinical staff, physicians, and the community to maximize resources and resolve barriers to the plan of care.
- All other duties as assigned.
- Minimum 2 years Clinical Experience in the Emergency Department, Critical Care or Critical Care Transport.
