Job Summary
Do you enjoy collaborating? Do you want to ensure family voice is included in case planning? As a Facilitation Caseworker you will facilitate Family Engagement Meetings during intake assessments and ongoing cases. You will collaborate and guide discussions with families, other CYFS staff and professionals in the community to help guide important decisions in assessments and cases.
Hiring Range : $62,000.00 - $67,000.00
Anticipated Hiring Rate : $64,833.60
This
is a child protection position. Child protection includes engaging families. It
is reasonable to anticipate the need for flexibility in work hours periodically
to accommodate client schedules. The average workday hours are Monday-Friday
8 : 00am -5 : 00pm. Schedule subject to
change. Hybrid
schedule available upon successful completion of probationary period; subject
to change.

Serves as a facilitator in support of the Practice Unit within the Children, Youth, & Family Services (CYFS) Division of the El Paso County Department of Human Services (DHS) to ensure family engagement and proper communication / coordination. Coordinates services and secondary service decisions in support of the Practice Unit to assist in preserving families. Coordinates with the Practice Unit and is responsible for primary decision-making of child protection practices as needed.
Essential Duties / Responsibilities
- Assists caseworkers who preserve and / or rehabilitate families while protecting children's physical, emotional, and mental well-being through child protection, adolescent services, placements, and / or permanency plans; reports identified deviations from practice to appropriate leadership.
- Facilitates meetings on cases for caseworkers; coordinates with DHS staff and appropriate providers and supports to facilitate the meeting process with families and professionals in the community.
- Records attendance and takes notes during meetings and generates written reports from the meetings; identifies practice patterns and outcomes.
- Mediates any disagreements during the meeting process and proceeds towards a positive and timely outcome and final decision(s) regarding case planning.
- Provides a culturally respectful climate for meetings, including arranging easily accessible locations for families and ensuring interpreters are available, if necessary.
- Ensures that decisions made during the meeting process comply with agency policies and procedures and State, Federal, and County laws, outcome measures, rules, and regulations. Tracks and verifies that applicable tasks are completed, reports information to appropriate leadership.
- Meets with individual units to problem-solve and improve the meeting process.
- Provides support to Practice and Support and Services teams within the CYFS Division as needed.
- Attends training and workshops.
- Performs other duties as required.
Supervision Exercised : This classification does not have supervisory authority; however, may be required to provide expertise or limited guidance or direction to employees, such as overseeing work quality, training, and guidance. Typically serves as a subject matter expert on the scope of functional area.
Supervision Received : Receives general supervision. This classification typically performs job duties by following established standard operating procedures and / or policies. Regular direction, guidance, and coaching from supervisor may be expected. There is a choice of the appropriate procedure or policy to apply to duties. Performance reviewed periodically.

Required Education & Experience
Bachelor's degree of social work, a Master's degree of social work, or a Master's degree in a human behavioral science field with at least 10 semester or 18 quarter hours in courses relevant to child may substitute for one (1) year of required experience.

Work Conditions
Duties are performed in an office environment, client's homes, schools, jails, and court; must be able to climb stairs in or outside of these environments and able to walk up and down driveways and sidewalks. Hybrid remote work environment dependent upon Department discretion and business needs. May be exposed to hostile family situations / individuals, and unsanitary and hazardous conditions. Reliable transportation is required as you will be utilizing your own registered and insured personal vehicle to transport clients as needed; mileage reimbursement is available upon request. This position may require a 24 / 7 on-call and after-hours rotational schedule. Local and non-local travel, to include possible out of state travel, may be required. Occasional lifting of files, supplies, children : exerting 20 lbs. - 50 lbs. occasionally; 10 lbs. - 25 lbs. frequently, or up to 10 lbs. constantly.
