The Sheriff’s Office provides public safety at all times and therefore every position is deemed essential. All positions are in-person and not eligible for remote work. Every position is also subject to recall based on the needs of the Office to keep the community safe.
This position has an anticipated work schedule of Monday – Friday, 8:00am – 4:30pm, subject to change.
Under FLSA guidelines, this position is non-exempt.

Develops various publications using multiple technologies for web and print distribution. Responsively updates internal and external websites. Films, edits, and produces videos for distribution within the El Paso County Sheriff's Office (EPSO), as well as for public viewing. Films and photographs EPSO functions for various media publications. Designs multimedia presentations and helps coordinate office-wide events. Updates and monitors all EPSO social media platforms.
- Implements social media outreach as a proactive advocate to ensure transparency and foster greater trust and engagement in EPSO; creates, designs, and coordinates social media outreach campaigns through video, graphics, and other digital content.
- Monitors traditional news and social media outlets daily to stay well informed of local issues and community concerns that may have an impact on EPSO programs and functions; updates EPSO social media platforms.
- Maintains internal and external websites with new content, updates, photos, and videos.
- Gathers resources and designs print publications, including brochures, flyers, and reports.
- Films and photographs EPSO functions for various publications.
- Films, edits, and compresses various videos for internal/external distribution and publication.
- Assists EPSO divisions and sections with any multimedia needs, including photography, videography, print publications, and audio editing.
- Designs multimedia presentations for events and helps coordinate many aspects of EPSO events, including the Annual Awards Ceremony.
- Coordinates presentations and ceremonies, ensuring all audio-visual equipment is operational.
- Assists with developing and distributing required and requested surveys.
- Completes special assignments and projects as directed.
- Remains current with changing technologies and media trends.
- Performs other duties as required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Must be honest, trustworthy, and possess a high degree of personal integrity.
- Knowledge of web design, including compliant coding of HTML, PHP, and Cascading Style Sheets (CSS).
- Knowledge of Apple computer software, including Final Cut Pro Suite, AppleTV, and hardware as well as other programs used in multimedia projects.
- Knowledge of and ability to use Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite.
- Knowledge of high-definition video production to include filming, editing, compression, redaction techniques and publishing to multiple formats such as DVD creation and web delivery.
- Knowledge of photography, including the ability to take high quality photographs, perform basic editing work, and deliver them in multiple formats.
- Strong design, writing, and editing skills. Ability to learn brand guidelines and implement them effectively in designs.
- Knowledge of current print and web design trends with the ability to implement them in innovative ways to complete various projects.
- Basic knowledge of audio equipment, including the ability to record, edit, and deliver high quality sound recordings.
- Knowledge of social media platforms including the ability to manage and update social media accounts, post text and photos, as well as the ability to respond to the public in a professional manner.
- Knowledge and understanding of EPSO policies and procedures.
- Ability to use a camera and video camera equipment, working knowledge of still photography, video production, editing, graphic design, and digital and social media software.
- Ability to work independently and maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to efficiently manage and complete projects under pressure in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Ability to maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, County employees, external agencies, and the public.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, including the ability to effectively deliver presentations.
- Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
Required Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent education.
- One year of experience in graphic design and layout, illustration, or commercial art.
- Any equivalent combination of related education and work experience that satisfy the requirements of the job will be considered.
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in graphic design, visual communications, or digital media.
- Two years of experience working with law enforcement in a multimedia or communications field.
- Experience with Office 365, OneDrive, Adobe Creative Suite (In Design), and Canva. Experience in WordPress or similar application.
Licenses/Certificates:
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
- Must obtain and maintain Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS) Compliance within six months of employment.
Pre-Employment Requirements:
- Must pass conditional post offer background investigation, truth verification examination, motor vehicle record check, and drug screen.
Duties are primarily performed in an office environment and within a detention facility. Some degree of hazard to personal safety with exposure to violent inmates and contagious disease. Will be required to travel locally, work evenings, and weekends as business needs dictate.
