We are looking for a goal-oriented Baker who thrives on being successful. El Rio Grande Latin Market offers professional opportunities for career growth and development to individuals seeking to make an impact.
Essential duties include, but are not limited to:
Open the bakery early in the morning
Clean kitchen equipment and tools before use
Weigh flour and other ingredients to prepare dough
Prepare, produce and bake a variety of Hispanic breads and pastries (must have recipe experience).
Adjust oven temperatures to ensure proper baking
Recommend recipes to renew our menu and attract more customers (e.g. gluten-free or vegan desserts)
Track food supplies and place orders, as needed
Other duties common to the Bakery department may be assigned by the supervisor as needed.
Qualifications
Requirements:
- Experience as a Baker, Pastry Chef or similar role
- Must be 18 years of age
- Familiarity with all professional kitchen equipment, including mixers, blenders and dough sheeters
- Lift up to 50 pounds unassisted.
- Understanding of food safety practices
- Excellent time-management skills
- Ability to remain calm and focused in a fast-paced environment
- Team spirit, with a customer-focused attitude
- Flexibility to work in early morning shifts
