What are the responsibilities and job description for the DIETARY AIDE PT position at Elan Skilled Nursing?
SUMMARY: Assists in preparation and service of food, proper sanitation and storage of food and non-food supplies. Dietary Aides are scheduled in a variety of job assignments.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Serves residents in dining room appropriate meals by:
- Utilizing Selective Menu sheets as a guide to a residents dietary restrictions and preferences.
- Refers to posted production sheets for menu items to be served to special diets.
- Takes food carts to and from nursing units.
- Serves meals to residents dining on nursing units through specific position on tray line.
- Assembles Kosher Meals on Wheels.
- Stores food and non-food supplies in a sanitary manner by:
- Maintains all storage areas in a neat and organized manner.
- Proper utilization of a cover, label, and date.
- Breakdown and reset of dining room following proper procedures.
- Performs assigned cleaning duties by:
- Following the posted schedule.
- Follows appropriate cleaning procedures as directed by supervisor.
- Cleans and washes all dishes, pots and silverware according to appropriate sanitary guidelines.
- Cleans and sanitizes food carts after they are retrived from nursing units.
- Fills nourishment requisitions.
- Assists in food preparation by:
- Preparing all raw vegetables and fruits.
- Some baking of cookies and other baked products
- Assists in the preparation and service of special functions.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); preferred but not required
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
Ability to follow both oral and written directions.
MATHEMATICAL:
Basic understanding of mathematical skills including addition and subtraction.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and extreme heat. The employee is occasionally exposed to extreme cold and chemicals used in sanitation.
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
