We gather community through food and agriculture with a sustainable farm, café, weekly market, learning kitchen, and educational programming for youth and adults.
Event and Bar Porter
An Event and Bar Porter plays a key support role in ensuring that events run smoothly, particularly in the bar area. The Event and Bar Porter supports the general set-up for the event, working closely with predesigned floor plans and timelines. The Event and Bar Porter supports bartenders during events, ensuring the bar is stocked, organized, and ready to serve guests. This role involves assisting with inventory management, cleaning, and maintaining a clean, efficient, and welcoming environment for both guests and the bar team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure the event space is set in a timely fashion and based on the predesigned floor plan and tablescape.
- Ensure event equipment, including chairs, bars, tables, and electronic equipment, is moved based on the predesigned floor plan.
- Assist Bartenders by providing them with the necessary supplies, including glassware, garnishes, and beverages.
- Ensure that the bar is continuously stocked with alcohol, mixers, garnishes, napkins, straws, ice, and other necessary items throughout the event.
- Clean glasses, utensils, and bar tools. Remove empty bottles and trash from the bar area and maintain overall cleanliness.
- Help with the set-up of the bar area before the event and help break down the bar area afterward.
- Help with inventory checks, restock items as needed, and ensure all supplies are well organized and accessible.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Ability to stand, move, and lift during long shifts, often carrying heavy items like chairs and tables.
- Ability to communicate effectively with bartenders, event staff, and guests.
- Ability to keep the bar area well-organized and ensure timely restocking and cleanup.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment with a focus on cooperation and efficiency.
- Ability to take initiative to solve problems.
Physical Requirements:
- Extensive walking and carrying small to large objects, including trays that hold service and glassware.
- Requires the ability to speak audibly and listen actively.
- Requires the ability to lift 25 lbs. and assist with event space set-up (e.g., moving chairs and tables)
- The Event and Bar Porter must be available to work our Evening Events May - October. All Evening events take place on Fridays and Saturdays and end at 11 pm – 1 am in the evening.
- Compensation: The hourly rate for this position is $16-$18 per hour.
