 Event Busser

Elawa Farm Foundation’s mission is to steward a historic farm that enriches greater Lake County as a center for experiential learning to broaden access to education, nutritious food, and our local food system. We gather community through food and agriculture with a sustainable farm, café, weekly market, learning kitchen, and educational programming for youth and adults.

An Event Busser is a critical part of the Events team supplying essential clean-up and bussing duties to remove items from the table(s) in a timely manner, wash and replace items back into inventory and otherwise ensure that the back end of service is managed efficiently.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Clean and Set Tables:
• Clear dishes, glassware, and silverware from tables after customers finish their meals.
• Wipe down tables and chairs to keep them clean and ready for new guests.
• Set tables with clean dishes, utensils, napkins, and condiments before new customers are seated.
2. Assist Servers:
• Support waitstaff by delivering food and beverages to tables as needed.
• Refill water glasses, bring extra napkins, and respond to customer requests promptly.
• Help servers in setting up and breaking down tables for special events or large parties.
3. Maintain Cleanliness in the Dining Area:
• Ensure the dining area is tidy by cleaning floors, restrooms, and other public areas throughout the shift.
• Take out trash and help with general cleanup during and after shifts.
• Keep an eye on and refill condiments, utensils, and other dining essentials.
4. Stocking and Organizing:
• Refill napkin holders, salt and pepper shakers, and other table accessories.
• Restock the server stations with necessary supplies (e.g., utensils, straws, napkins).
• Organize clean dishes, glassware, and utensils for easy access by servers.

Skills and Qualifications:

• Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for long periods, bend, kneel, and carry trays of dishes.
• Team Player: Able to work well in a fast-paced environment with a team.
• Attention to Detail: Ensures cleanliness and organization in the dining area.
• Good Communication: Works closely with servers, kitchen staff, and management.
• Multitasking: Ability to manage multiple tasks at once efficiently.

Work Environment:

• Fast-Paced: Bussers often work during peak hours, requiring speed and attention to detail.
• Physical Work: The job involves lifting, bending, and moving quickly throughout the restaurant.

Physical Requirements:

• Extensive walking and carrying small to large objects including trays that hold service and glassware.
• Requires the ability to speak audibly and listen actively.
• Requires the ability to lift 25 lbs. and assist with event space set-up (e.g., moving chairs and tables)
• The Event Busser must be available to work our Evening Events May - October. All Evening events take place on Fridays and Saturdays and end at 11 pm – 1 am.

Compensation:  The hourly rate for this position is $16-18 per hour, commensurate with experience.
