Position: High School Band Director

Qualifications:
- Applicants must hold or be eligible for a Georgia Educator’s Certificate in Music K-12 or eligible for waiver
- Applicants must have successful work experiences in a high school band program, be knowledgeable, and possess organizational and leadership skills to develop all aspects of the band program.
- Successful work experience as a High School Band Director is preferred.
Knowledge, skills, and abilities:

- Knowledge of current educational research especially in the field of music education.
- Skill in oral and written communication with students, parents and others.
- Ability to plan and implement activities for maximum effectiveness.
- Ability to work effectively with peers, administrators and others.
Performance Responsibilities:
- Plans and coordinates a comprehensive band program.
- Meets expectations according to the regular high school teacher job description.
- Presents concerts or programs as directed by the instructional needs of the students and the valid expectations of the community.
- Prepares or obtains music and drill charts for marching band prior to beginning of rehearsals for fall; begins rehearsals/practices for fall no later than one week prior to pre-planning; rehearses marching band shows to presentable level.
- Accompanies and is responsible for the band’s performance on the field and in the stands at all the school’s football games; plans, accompanies and is responsible for the band on trips to marching and concert performances; is responsible for the preparation and performance of the marching band auxiliary units; accompanies and is responsible for the band’s performance at approved civic functions such as parades, dedications, and other ceremonies.
- Encourages and assists worthy students in ensembles, solos, and preparation for auditions such asGHP, Honor Band, all state groups, and music scholarships.
- Works with other teachers and middle school band and chorus directors to plan special activities, share ideas and resources, and ensure a quality feeder system for the high school band program.
- Provides leadership to the booster club for the enhancement of the program.
- Develops and maintains good public relations.
- Leading, mangage, and teaching chorus.
- Performs other duties and tasks consistent with the goals and objectives of this position.
Job Description: PK-12 Teacher
Position Summary: A PK-12 teacher is responsible for creating a supportive and engaging learning environment that fosters the academic, emotional, and social development of students from pre-kindergarten through 12th grade. Teachers develop and implement lesson plans that adhere to curriculum standards, assess student progress, and adapt instructional methods to meet the diverse needs of all learners. The role involves collaboration with colleagues, communication with parents or guardians, and ongoing professional development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Curriculum Planning and Instruction:
- Design and deliver engaging lessons that align with district, state, and federal curriculum standards.
- Use a variety of instructional methods, including lectures, discussions, hands-on activities, and technology, to accommodate different learning styles.
- Integrate critical thinking, problem-solving, and creativity into lessons to enhance student learning.
- Classroom Management:
- Establish and maintain a positive, organized, and inclusive classroom environment.
- Implement effective classroom management techniques to encourage respect, discipline, and engagement.
- Address and resolve any behavioral issues following school policies.
- Ability to effectively supervise students
- Student Assessment and Progress Monitoring:
- Develop assessments (quizzes, tests, projects, etc.) to measure students' understanding and progress.
- Regularly evaluate and report student performance, identifying areas where additional support or enrichment may be needed.
- Use data from assessments to inform instructional adjustments and differentiated instruction.
- Collaboration and Communication:
- Work with other teachers, administrators, and staff to enhance the overall educational experience.
- Communicate regularly with parents/guardians about student progress, achievements, and any concerns.
- Participate in team meetings, professional development, and other collaborative initiatives.
- Professional Development:
- Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current with educational trends, technologies, and best practices.
- Reflect on teaching practices and incorporate new strategies to improve student outcomes.
- Student Support and Advocacy:
- Recognize and address the academic and emotional needs of students.
- Provide guidance, encouragement, and support to promote student well-being and growth.
- Refer students to appropriate support services when necessary.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field (Master’s preferred for upper-grade levels).
- State teaching certification or licensure for the relevant grade level(s).
- Strong knowledge of subject matter and pedagogy.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in the classroom.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with technology and online learning platforms.
