TITLE: Title I  Math Intervention Teacher

REPORTS TO:

Principal

 

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

To provide targeted math instruction to identified students based on performance data over time.

 

JOB PURPOSE:

To lead students toward the fulfillment of their potential for intellectual, emotional, and psychological growth and maturation through focused math instruction.

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Develops, prepares, and administers intensive math interventions for data identified students.
  2. Works collaboratively with administration, instructional support staff, and teachers to review data and identify students needing intensive intervention services.
  3. Collects, analyzes, and reviews data for the purposes of improving student outcomes.
  4. Develops and implements progress monitoring tools narrowly designed to measure growth resulting from targeted interventions.
  5. Supports a classroom environment conducive to effective learning within the limits of the resources provided by the school system.
  6. Prepares for classes assigned and shows written evidence of preparation through weekly intervention/lesson plans.
  7. Encourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
  8. Employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media, consistent with the physical limitations of the location provided and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved.
  9. Strives to implement by instruction and action the district’s philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives.
  10. Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, system policy, and administrative regulation.
  11. Assist in upholding and enforcing school rules, administrative regulations, and Board Policy.
  12. Makes provision for being available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested to do so under reasonable terms.
  13. Attends and participates in faculty meetings.
  14. Cooperates with other members of the staff in planning instructional goals, objectives, and methods.
  15. Assists in the selection of books, equipment, and other instructional materials.
  16. Accepts a share of responsibility for co-curricular activities as assigned.
  17. Works to establish and maintain open lines of communication with students and their parents concerning both the broad academic and behavioral progress of all assigned students.
  18. Establishes and maintains cooperative relations with others.
  19. Provides for his/her own professional growth through an ongoing program of math, workshops, seminars, conferences, and/or advanced course work at institutions of higher learning.
  20. Ability to effectively supervise students, especially in emergency situations.
  21. Ability to regularly, reliably, and consistently be present in person at work
  22. Performs such other tasks and assumes such other responsibility as the principal may assign from time to time.

ECSD Job Description: PK-12 Teacher

Position Summary: A PK-12 teacher is responsible for creating a supportive and engaging learning environment that fosters the academic, emotional, and social development of students from pre-kindergarten through 12th grade. Teachers develop and implement lesson plans that adhere to curriculum standards, assess student progress, and adapt instructional methods to meet the diverse needs of all learners. The role involves collaboration with colleagues, communication with parents or guardians, and ongoing professional development.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Curriculum Planning and Instruction:
    • Design and deliver engaging lessons that align with district, state, and federal curriculum standards.
    • Use a variety of instructional methods, including lectures, discussions, hands-on activities, and technology, to accommodate different learning styles.
    • Integrate critical thinking, problem-solving, and creativity into lessons to enhance student learning.
  2. Classroom Management:
    • Establish and maintain a positive, organized, and inclusive classroom environment.
    • Implement effective classroom management techniques to encourage respect, discipline, and engagement.
    • Address and resolve any behavioral issues following school policies.
    • Ability to effectively supervise students
  3. Student Assessment and Progress Monitoring:
    • Develop assessments (quizzes, tests, projects, etc.) to measure students' understanding and progress.
    • Regularly evaluate and report student performance, identifying areas where additional support or enrichment may be needed.
    • Use data from assessments to inform instructional adjustments and differentiated instruction.
  4. Collaboration and Communication:
    • Work with other teachers, administrators, and staff to enhance the overall educational experience.
    • Communicate regularly with parents/guardians about student progress, achievements, and any concerns.
    • Participate in team meetings, professional development, and other collaborative initiatives.
  5. Professional Development:
    • Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current with educational trends, technologies, and best practices.
    • Reflect on teaching practices and incorporate new strategies to improve student outcomes.
  6. Student Support and Advocacy:
    • Recognize and address the academic and emotional needs of students.
    • Provide guidance, encouragement, and support to promote student well-being and growth.
    • Refer students to appropriate support services when necessary.
    • Motivating and and inspiring students to their full potential

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field (Master’s preferred for upper-grade levels).
  • State teaching certification or licensure for the relevant grade level(s).
  • Strong knowledge of subject matter and pedagogy.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in the classroom.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with technology and online learning platforms.
  • Familiarity with differentiated instruction and inclusive education strategies.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and adaptability in a dynamic educational environment.
  • Ability to regularly, reliably, and consistently be present in person at work

Work Environment: Teachers work primarily in classroom settings within a school. The role may require additional hours for planning, grading, and participating in school-related events or activities.
