Elcor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center is currently looking to hire a Diet Technician to join our team. The Diet Technician Functions under the supervision of the Dietary/Nutrition Director in managing dietary operations, conducts clinical documentation in the form of nutrition assessments, routine quarterlies, assists in assuring compliance with NYS DOH regulations in the dietary department. Reports to Director of Nutrition Services and works under the clinical direction of the Registered Dietician.

- Documents the residents’ nutritional goals and approaches with follow up via care plan and progress notes.
- Completes quarterly and annual MDS assessments and CAA’s in collaboration with RD.
- Assists in developing seasonal menus, inputting patients or changes in meal tracker.
- Utilizes services of the consultant dietician for development of menus, therapeutic modification, recipes, resident assessment, and resident nutritional risk.
- Interacts with residents concerning their diet orders and communicates with kitchen staff any diet changes.
- Ensures admission notes, care plan, and assessments are in resident’s charts with in 48 hours of admission; documenting diet order, preferences, and facility ability to meet the ordered diet.
- Completes mini nutritional assessment and diet history assessment on admission, ensures medical provider signs off on MNA by ARD date.
- Collaborates with consultant RD to identify resident nutritional problems, set goals, and meet MDS requirements.
- Attends Meetings-of-care plans, daily morning report, and weekly skin and weight meetings. Communicates with RD regarding resident changes, writes notes, takes verbal orders, and makes care plan changes as/when needed or appropriate.
- Follow up on consultant RD recommendations.
- Completes select menus, brings to the unit and reviews with residents as needed.
- Works collaboratively with IDT regarding resident’s needs. Demonstrates continuous communication with the clinical team.
- Writes skin notes assessing for supplement needs, writes supplement orders as needed.
- Writes daily notes for changes in consistencies or meal plan.
- Follows state and federal regulations, ensures dietary compliance.
- Complies with safety, infection control, and company policy, maintains a clean work environment.
- Assists in the kitchen when needed, prepares/serves meals, and maintains the kitchen area.
- Suggests menu changes and alternate items to utilize leftovers and other supplies.
- Monitors and improves regulatory compliance related to nutrition.
- Assists in resident satisfaction and quality customer service with meals.
- Attends QAPI meetings as directed, conducts routine audits for food allergies, accuracy of
- diet orders, meal consistencies, and meal tickets.
- Ensures meals are prepared and served on time, follows facility meals schedule.
- Conducts daily meal rounds; reports, and addresses any concerns
- Has regulatory required credentialing for Diet Technician in NYS.
- Ability to work with residents/family, staff and physicians in a friendly and knowledgeable manner.
