About This Career Opportunity
The Resident Care Director :
- Responsible for themanagement and supervision of care services to Assisted Living residents in the Community.
- Assesses current and prospective residents for their level of functioning and appropriateness for varying levels of care. Creates appropriate service plans for new and existing residents.
- Participates within an interdisciplinary team which monitors and reviews residents health and social needs on an ongoingbasis.
- Provides direct care, supervising and educating the caregivers including hiring,performance managementand scheduling of staff.
- Develops and monitors Assisted Living Program's operating and capital budgets. Establishes and maintains a thorough knowledge of federal, state and local legislation and accrediting / contracting agency policy and procedures related to Residential Care.
- Participates as a community leader, and as part of the leadership team, help to create a positive, caring environment.
Overview
The Resident Care Director is responsible for the management and supervision of care services to Assisted Living residents in the Community. This involves providing direct care, supervising and educating the caregivers and assisting with community marketing efforts. The Resident Care Director shall communicate professionally with the residents, families and peers and, as part of a team, help to create a positive, caring environment. The Resident Care Director is accountable to the Executive Director. .
Responsibilities
Supervises the caregiving operations of Assisted Living consistent with the communities' standards, mission, and goals. Provides and evaluates the provision of services to the residents with appropriate regard for the resident's physical, mental and social well-being, including those with mild or moderate dementia.Provides direct supervision to caregivers who maintain the daily environment of residential care. Provides orientation, training, supervision and evaluation of all Resident Care personnel. Makes daily rounds to monitor care provided to residents in the community.Hires,performance managesand schedules staff as appropriate.Assesses current and prospective residents for their level of functioning and appropriateness for varying levels of care. Creates appropriate service plans for new and existing residents. Participates within an interdisciplinary team which monitors and reviews residents health and social needs on an ongoing basisMaintains contact with residents health care providers, as needed, including reassessments prior to and coordination of services upon return from hospitalization. Assures that physicians orders are clearly documented , clinical services provided, and health care issues are addressed. Communicates closely with the Health Care Coordinator who assists with clinical services.Oversees the medication management program and assures that the appropriate medication and resident health records are maintainedDevelops and monitors Assisted Living Program's operating and capital budgets. Establishes and maintains a thorough knowledge of federal, state and local legislation and accrediting / contracting agency policy and procedures related to Residential Care.Qualifications
Position Requirements
At least 18 years of age.Cleared Criminal Record clearance through the Department of Social Services prior to presence in the community.Health screening and TB test results not older than 6 months.Current First Aid Training and Certifications as per Title 22.College degree in related field or significant experience preferred.Valid unrestricted California nursing license preferred.Three years minimum supervisory and administrative experience, inclusive of budgeting and program development.Two years minimum experience working with, sensitivity to and knowledge of working with older adults and the aging process.Skills and Attributes
Sensitivity and knowledge of working with older adults and the aging process.Ability to identify need, develop, and manage programs and systems simultaneously.Knowledge about dementia highly desirable.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Knowledge of aging process and implications of aging in a social setting.Must understand health care environment and the medical context for older adults.Ability to communicate professionally with residents, families, peers and employees in a multi-cultural environment.Compensation and Benefits
