About This Career Opportunity

Overview

Our Certified Dietary Manager (CDM) plays a pivotal role in our community, responsible for managing and overseeing all aspects of our dining services and the nutritional care of residents. This includes developing and implementing nutritionally balanced, delicious, and innovative menus that cater to the unique dietary needs and preferences of our residents. The CDM collaborates with our skilled culinary team, healthcare professionals, and management to ensure a seamless, enjoyable, and memorable dining experience.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain comprehensive nutritional program for residents alongside the Registered Dietician, taking into consideration individual dietary requirements, food allergies, and preferences.
  • Ensure all meals meet or exceed state and federal nutritional guidelines while also delivering an exceptional dining experience.
  • Manage and oversee food service operations, including food purchasing, preparation, and presentation.
  • Supervise, train, and evaluate health services culinary staff to ensure adherence to high-quality standards, safety protocols, and excellent customer service. Direct supervision of serving staff.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to develop specialized meal plans for residents with specific medical or dietary needs.
  • Collaborate with the Registered Dietician with regards to the nutritional programs for residents identified as being at greatest risk, such as those receiving enteral feedings or experiencing significant unplanned weight loss.
  • Monitor and maintain food safety standards, ensuring compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Continuously evaluate and refine menus and dining experiences based on resident feedback, dietary trends, and new culinary techniques.
  • Manage budgets and inventory, ensuring cost-effective operations without compromising quality.
  • Foster a welcoming, positive, and inclusive work environment for all team members.
  • Designs and conducts in-service training for staff, supervises the application of these practices, and assesses the outcomes.
  • Visits residents during mealtimes to observe their food intake, preferences, and overall nutritional status, communicates observations to the Registered Dietician.
  • Meets with resident food committees to gather feedback and insights regarding the quality, variety, and types of meals offered within the community.
  • Collaborates with current or prospective benefits vendors to enhance employee wellness offerings.
  • Keeps abreast of trends in the food and nutrition industry to foster the development of innovative programs, attending conferences and seminars, as necessary.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications Position Requirements

  • Cleared Criminal Record clearance through the Department of Social Services prior to presence in the community.
  • Health screening and TB test results not older than 6 months.
  • Bachelors degree in nutrition, Dietetics, Food Service Management, or related field preferred, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Licensed as a Certified Dietary Manager (CDM) or Certified Food Service Manager (CFSM) required.
  • A minimum of three years or more experience in a leadership role in a healthcare or senior living setting.
  • Strong knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and HACCP protocols.
  • Proficiency with menu planning, budgeting, and inventory management.
  • ServSafe certification must be obtained within one year of employment and is required to be maintained throughout the entire period of employment.
  • Keep abreast of current state and federal laws and regulations relevant to long-term care facilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly in Office 365, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and email software.
