About This Career Opportunity

Our CNA :

  • Provides direct and indirect resident care activities under the direction of an RN or LVN.
  • Assists residents with activities of daily living, including providing for personal care and comfort.
  • Provides general nursing care such as positioning residents, lifting and turning residents, applying / utilizing special equipment, assisting in use of bedpan or commode, and ambulating the residents.
  • Provides morning and / or evening care, which may include bed bath, shower or whirlpool, oral hygiene, combing hair, back care, dressing residents, changing bed linen, cleaning overbed table and bedside stand, straightening room and other general care as necessary throughout the day.
  • Monitors residents on ongoing basis for condition or behavior and unusual incidents and reports to RN or LVN.
  • Assists in the maintenance of a safe and clean environment for an assigned group of residents.

Responsibilities

ECA Core Competencies

  • Consistently exhibits core competencies of : ECA Experience, Personal Appearance, Attendance, Resident Confidentiality, Licensing & Standards, In-service Education, Resident Compassion, and Safety.
  • General Nursing Care

  • Provides general nursing care such as positioning residents, lifting and turning residents, applying / utilizing special equipment, assisting in use of bedpan or commode, and ambulating the residents.
  • Turns and positions residents as ordered and / or as needed, making sure no rough surfaces are in direct contact with the body.
  • Lifts and turns with proper and safe body mechanics and with available resources.
  • Resident Intake & Monitoring

  • Assists in the preparation for admission of residents. Assists in and accompanies residents in the admission, transfer, and discharge procedures.
  • Takes and records temperature, pulse, respiration, weight, blood pressure and intake / output.
  • Monitors residents on ongoing basis for condition or behavior and unusual incidents and reports to RN or LVN.
  • Documents changes in resident's condition and nursing care in E.H.R. systems as directed.
  • Resident Morning & Evening Care

  • Provides morning care, which may include bed bath, shower or whirlpool, oral hygiene, combing hair, back care, dressing residents, changing bed linen, cleaning overbed table and bedside stand, straightening room and other general care as necessary throughout the day.
  • Provides evening care, which includes hands / face washing as needed, oral hygiene, back rubs, pericare, freshening linen, cleaning overbed tables, straightening room, and other general care as needed.
  • Resident Clothing & Care

  • Ensures residents are dressed properly and assists as necessary. Ensures that used clothing is properly stored in bedside stand or on hangers in closet. Ensures that all residents are clean and dry at all times.
  • Assists residents with handling and care of clothing and other personal property (including dentures, glasses, contact lenses).
  • Resident Meal Assistance

  • Prepares residents for meals; serves and removes food trays and assists with meals or feeds residents, if necessary.
  • Distributes drinking water and other nourishments to residents.
  • Transition Rounds

  • Makes rounds with outgoing shift; knows whereabouts of assigned residents.
  • Makes rounds with oncoming shift to ensure the unit is left in good condition.
  • Answers residents' call lights, anticipates residents' needs and makes rounds to assigned residents.
  • Qualifications

  • At least 18 years of age.
  • Cleared Criminal Record clearance through the Department of Social Services prior to presence in the community.
  • Health screening and TB test results not older than 6 months.
  • Current First Aid Training and Certifications as per Title 22.
  • Must have CNA Certification in the state of California
  • Working knowledge of computers and typing, sufficient enough to be successful with computerized Point of Care and other systems.
  • Minimum of six months in long term care, home care or related field preferred.

  • Ability to interactwith residents, families, coworkers, managers and other departmental personnel in a kind, knowledgeable, professional and friendly manner.
  • Must possess effective English verbal and written communication skills with the ability to successfully work in a multi-cultural environment.
