About This Career Opportunity
Overview
The Resident Care Manager supports the Director of Nursing in the training of team members, the execution of policies, procedures, and systems related to the nursing department, ensuring adherence to state and federal regulations. This role also involves delivering high-quality care to residents and fostering a healthy and safe work environment for employees.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Director of Nursing in formulating, reviewing, and establishing the operational standards for the nursing department.
- Facilitate, train, and / or promote staff educational programs, while monitoring attendance and adherence to mandatory training requirements.
- Participate in scheduled management meetings as assigned.
- Work in conjunction with Social Services during Resident care conferences.
- Assist in the MDS process by providing support to the outsourced MDS team.
- Collaborate with the wound care team to ensure that wound documentation and interventions meet established standards of practice.
- Oversee the completion of admission, discharge, and evaluation documentation for all residents, ensuring appropriate documentation including functional assessments are accurately recorded.
- Safeguard and uphold the rights and responsibilities of all residents.
- Foster and maintain strong communication with residents and their families.
- Encourage an environment that promotes resident independence to the greatest extent possible.
- Partner with the Medical Director and other professional service providers.
- Coordinate with relevant department directors and supervisors regarding services provided to residents.
- Ensure compliance with all documentation requirements set forth by state agencies.
- Adhere to both state and federal regulations and requirements.
- Stay informed about the scope of practice for oneself and support personnel.
- Pursue opportunities for personal and professional development related to clinical practice standards, gerontology, rehabilitation, organizational management, regulatory compliance, infection control, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Oversee the utilization of supplies and equipment while planning for future equipment replacements.
- Review, investigate, and address customer grievances as directed by the Director of Nursing.
- Engage in the Quality Assurance and Assessment (QAA) process.
- Foster a positive organizational image.
- Manage the maintenance and disposal of discontinued controlled substances in accordance with state pharmacy regulations.
- Recruit, train, and schedule direct care staff at the Care Center.
- Assist the Director of Nursing in supervising staff to ensure the delivery of quality services in a compassionate environment that aims to uphold the residents' independence and dignity.
