For over 51 years, Elder Care Services has been fulfilling our mission to improve the quality of life for seniors and their caregivers in the Big Bend. Elder Care Services currently serves as the Lead Non-Profit Agency for in-home services in Leon and Wakulla Counties.
Our comprehensive services provide community based, compassionate care for a broad spectrum of seniors. For active seniors, we provide an avenue to stay engaged in the community through volunteering placement. For families beginning the aging process, we are an advocate and trusted resource. For frail and homebound seniors, we continue to provide a variety of services that promote independence and safety while individuals age in place.
We are looking for a highly detailed and enthusiastic Director of Volunteers for our Senior Volunteer Programs! As our Director of Volunteers, you will have the opportunity to make a positive difference in the lives of seniors in the Big Bend area through volunteerism and community support. We will provide an annual salary and a full benefits package (see below for details). We are specifically looking for someone who is organized and responsive and looking to make a difference in the lives of others, with experience in grant writing and management.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a member of the management staff, working with and supporting the President/CEO and the vision and mission of ECS.
- Oversees Elder Care Services’ Senior Volunteer Programs (SVP) and all agency volunteers
- Employs, supervises, and trains SVP staff adhering to ECS and CNCS policies
- Approves all volunteer assignments and placements and arranges for orientation, training, and supervision with stations and project staff.
- Authorizes all department expenditures
- Works with CFO to create grant budgets
- Updates MOUs and other appropriate documents with volunteer stations
- Maintains and submits reports and information according to procedures mandated by CNCS and ECS.
- Implements an accurate record-keeping method to document project activities, services, and volunteer hours.
- Develops relationships with community agencies and groups that will enhance project and agency objectives as well as in-kind and cash resources.
- Serves as liaison for SVP at administrative staff meetings, staff training, and other activities integral to ECS
- Arranges for formal and regular recognition of volunteers, organizations, and individuals who have supported SVP and ECS
- Assists and informs the Advisory Council of significant project plans, policies, and challenges, incl. resource development
- Attends conferences, meetings, and training programs related to the position, including those sponsored by CNCS
- Serves as liaison for ECS, or coordinates agency involvement, at outreach and networking events, trainings, and other activities
- Coordinate special events including community presentations
- Coordinates and manages agency events under advisement from the Chief Development Officer
- Supervises non-SVP ECS volunteers and maintains data on all aspects of their volunteer efforts
- Provides other project and agency-related assistance required by ECS CEO/President
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or minimum of three years experience in fields nonprofit development or volunteer management.
- Have a minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in volunteer coordination
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in events and development
- Sound oral and written communication skills as well as public speaking experience.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office required, knowledge of Volunteer Reporter strongly desired.
- Previous experience in resource development and public relations strongly desired
- Interest in working with the elderly strongly desired.
- Ability to work on a team.
- Clean driving record and access to a reliable source of transportation.
- Ability to sit for extended periods of time.
