CLASS PURPOSE
Provides passenger transportation services to and from:
- Community facilities and resources for purposes of acquiring/receiving services;
- Shopping; banking; barber/beauty shops; etc.
- Participation in activities or attend events in order to reduce isolation and promote successful independent living;
- Congregate meal sites for nutritious meals and social interaction.
- Dr's Appointments in Emmett and the Boise area
GENERAL INFORMATION
This position works under the direction of the Agency’s Executive Director.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Demonstrates excellent customer service skills, including maintaining professional boundaries and confidentiality, and notifying riders of changes.*_
- Organizes and implements ride schedule, accurately taking into account the time of the pick-up and appointment, geographic locations, and travel time._*
- Operate vehicles in a safe manner and in accordance with all driving rules and regulations.
- Perform a pre and post trip inspection of the vehicle utilizing a written checklist.
- Perform regularly scheduled preventative maintenance utilizing a written checklist
- Keep vehicle clean.
- Ensures all safety equipment is in place and adequate. (First aid kit, blood spill kit, flashlight, reflectors, fire extinguisher, blankets, etc.)
- Complete a daily vehicle trip report.
- Assist participants in and out of the vehicle and assist with their parcels.
- Responsible for accepting donations/fees.
- Report any accident or injury of vehicle or passenger immediately after it happens.
- Be alert to well-being of participant and report any changes in participant.
- Be friendly, helpful and congenial to participants.
- Attend all mandatory training.
- Performs other duties as required.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where limited standardization exists.*
- Ability to plan and organize efficient route schedules and trips.**
- Ability to work well with people.**
- Ability to safely operate wheel chair lifts.**
- Ability to safely drive and navigate vans as well as buses that may have a seating capacity up to 15.**
- Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS*
- Have a valid and properly classified driver’s license;
- Have had a valid driver’s license for three years prior to the application;
- Have a demonstrated ability to exercise reasonable care in the safe operation of a motor vehicle; and
- Have not been convicted of reckless driving within three years.
