Position Overview :

As an Occupational Therapy Specialist, you will play a vital role in promoting the health and well-being of residents through comprehensive therapy services. You will administer skilled occupational therapy treatments while ensuring the highest standards of care.

Responsibilities :

  • Implement skilled occupational therapy treatments as per physician's orders, ensuring ongoing communication with the medical team.
  • Document evaluations, progress notes, MDS records, and discharge summaries accurately for individuals in the occupational therapy program.
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team to address the unique needs of individuals, enhancing their rehabilitation and functional maintenance.
  • Provide contributions during Care Planning meetings and represent the Occupational Therapy department in the Director's absence.
  • Maintain accurate statistical records of individuals' treatments.
  • Assist with in-service training programs upon request.
  • Record and update individual care plans to reflect current needs.
  • Request necessary supplies for treatment from the Director of Occupational Therapy.
  • Assume Director of Occupational Therapy duties during absences, including supervision of COTAs and Occupational Therapy Aides, and ensure proper documentation is maintained.

Qualifications :

  • Required : Graduation from an accredited school of occupational therapy.
  • Must hold a valid state license to practice occupational therapy.
  • Preferred : Two years of experience in occupational therapy.
  • Demonstrated interest in therapy programs for geriatric and subacute populations, utilizing a collaborative approach.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Current CPR / BLS certification is necessary.
  • Exemplary responsibility and ability to foster relationships with residents, families, and team members.
  • Maturity, diplomacy, and a collaborative spirit are essential.
  • Capability to engage with geriatric and chronically ill residents in a supportive manner.
  • Commitment to maintaining high standards of care and professionalism.
  • This role entails regular interaction with residents, coworkers, and visitors. Proficiency in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding English at an intermediate level or above is required to ensure effective communication and a safe work environment.
