Position Mission 

Manage the organization, creation and implementation of the plastic process control activities.  Support Production, Maintenance, and Engineering in product, process, and continuous improvement activities as well as overseeing all aspects of quality control within the Plastic’s department.  Ensure that all products and services consistently meet established standards by lead a team of inspectors, conducting audits, identifying issues, implementing corrective actions, and collaborating with other departments to maintain compliance with industry regulations and company policies.

Position Main Responsibilities

The position has the following responsibilities:

• Maintain comprehensive quality control plans, procedures and guidelines to ensure product consistency.
• Supervise quality inspectors, conduct regular inspections, and perform testing on products throughout the process.
• Monitor key quality metrics, identify trends, and utilize data to pinpoints areas for improvement.
• Conduct root cause analysis for quality defects, implement corrective actions, and prevent future occurrences.
• Train quality inspectors on proper procedures, quality standards, and documentation practicies.
• Work closely with production teams, engineering, and management to identify and address quality concerns.
• Stay updated on industry regulations and ensure the company adheres to all necessary standards.
• Perform internal and external audits to verify quality system effectiveness and identify areas for improvement.
• Prepare and present detailed reports on quality metrics, trends, and corrective actions.  
• Work with HR to determine root cause and corrective action plan for any employee issues.
• Other tasks as required.

Education required

High school, GED, but BS degree preferred.  Must have experience in a similar role with progressive roles and leadership experience.

Experiences required

• Thorough understanding of quality control methodologies, statistical analysis, and process improvement techniques.
• Ability to lead and motivate a team of inspectors, providing clear direction and coaching.
• Strong analytical skills to identify root causes of quality issues and develop effective solutions.
• Effective communication with various departments to share quality information and address concerns.
• Familiarity with relevant industry standards, manufacturing processes, and quality management systems.

Technical Knowledge Skills

1.

Knowledge of processing of plastic injection molds with and without hot runner systems.

2.

Experience detecting and judging general plastic parts defect types.

3.

Experience determining root cause and corrective action for quality defects (equipment, process, mold, etc.)

4.

Experience making schedules, training documents, and generating weekly/monthly reports of activities/progress.

5.

Understand, support, and follow good quality control plans, procedures, and guidelines.

6.

Knowledge of automotive quality standards (QS9000/9001, ISO-TS 16949)

7.

Basic understanding of APQP and PPAP.

8.

Ability to work and negotiate individually and as part of a team.
