Position Overview:
Electra is seeking an SeniorAvionics Engineer to support the development of avionics and low voltage electrical systems for Electra’s EL9 Ultra Short aircraft. This role will focus on the design, analysis, integration and testing of avionics (indicating and recording, guidance and navigation, cockpit systems, communications) and/or low voltage electrical systems (electrical power, lighting, air vehicle wiring). Salary: Electra's salary range for this position is: $91,000.00- $231,000.00
Our salary ranges reflect the minimum and maximum range for the Company level overall across all locations & projects and does not necessarily reflect the budgeted amount for this position. Individual pay is based on additional factors, including project budgets, job-related skills, experience, relevant education and/or training, role, level, location, and project.

Key Responsibilities & Essential Functions:
- Support the design, analysis, integration and testing of avionics (indicating and recording, guidance and navigation, cockpit systems, communications) and/or low voltage electrical systems (electrical power, lighting, air vehicle wiring)
- Support evaluation, selection and oversight of suppliers for avionics and electrical equipment
- Understand program objectives and requirements to conduct trade studies and define architectures, requirements, and interfaces between systems
- Create detailed engineering documentation for design, testing, and certification, including schematics, wiring diagrams, specifications, and test reports
- Develop and design system interfaces, ensuring that all components communicate effectively with each other
- Prepare and present gated design reviews to demonstrate the adequacy of the design
- Develop and execute tests to validate the performance, reliability, and safety of electrical and avionics systems
- Provide hands-on support for avionics and electrical system integration and test activities
- Collaborate with program management, other IPTs, and functional groups to accomplish team goals
- Address and resolve complex engineering challenges, using a combination of technical expertise and problem-solving skills
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams consisting of engineering, operations, program leadership, suppliers and certification leads, to ensure successful project execution
- Other duties as assigned
- Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering discipline with at least 12 years of relevant experience (or an equivalent combination of education and experience)
- Direct hands-on experience in some aspect of development of avionics systems, low-voltage electrical systems, or related components for aircraft
- A solid understanding of electrical circuits, power systems, sensors, communication systems, navigation, and flight control systems
- Familiarity with industry standards and regulations (e.g., DO-254, DO-160, MIL-STD-1553, etc.)
- Experience in system-level testing, such as bench tests, integration tests, and/or flight tests. Familiarity with test procedures and tools used for avionics and electrical systems
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional, team-oriented environment
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Experience with certification of avionics and electrical systems for a FAA Part 23 aircraft program
- Experience across the full life-cycle development of aircraft systems, from initial design and analysis to testing, certification, and operational monitoring
- Experience working on fly-by-wire and/or electric propulsion aircraft systems
- Licensed private pilot
- Headquarters in Manassas, VA. To encourage close collaboration this position is strongly preferred to be on-site
