What You Will Do
The Global Category Manager, Raw Materials and Logistics Procurement will lead efforts in raw materials and logistics planning, strategic sourcing, and supply chain operations for the company. This role focuses on the development, execution and ongoing management of the organization’s raw materials and logistics procurement needs and aims to ensure that the organization’s strategic goals are met by optimizing cost, efficiency, and supplier relationships.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the procurement process for all raw materials (such as iron ore and resins) and logistics requirements from raw material suppliers as well as all upstream and downstream global freight and logistics needs for movement of raw materials and finished product
Collaborate with internal stakeholders to define raw materials and logistics requirements, timelines, and budgets
Manage contract negotiations, including terms, pricing, and delivery schedules, ensuring that contracts deliver value, protect the organization’s interests and ensure that projects stay within budget and on schedule
Develop and implement sourcing strategies for raw materials and logistics services that align with the company’s goals and objectives, including working closely with the company’s commercial and strategy teams to align procurement strategies with strategic partners and customers where appropriate
Identify, evaluate, and qualify suppliers for critical goods and services
Foster strong relationships with key suppliers to ensure quality, reliability, and innovation
Drive process improvements to streamline procurement, ensure compliance, and reduce risk throughout the supply chain
Work closely with project management, engineering, finance, legal, quality and operations teams to ensure alignment on project goals, timelines, and procurement activities
Engage directly with senior and executive leadership, presenting sourcing plans, project updates and other relevant materials
Support project teams with supply chain insight and risk mitigation strategies during the project lifecycle
Analyze spend data and identify opportunities for cost savings, process improvements, and risk reduction
Manage supply chain risks by implementing supplier contingency plans, mitigating exposure to market volatility and assisting in demand planning
Establish KPIs and metrics to track both team and supplier performance
Read, understand, and comply with all workplace health and safety policies, safe work practices, and company policies and procedures
Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
What we need you to bring to the team (Requirements):
Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, business administration, engineering or related or equivalent work experience and CPP, CPSM, CIPS preferred
12+ years of experience in procurement, sourcing, or supply chain management, with at least 5 years focused on raw material and/or logistics categories (excludes internships and co-ops) or a combination of education and relevant experience
Previous experience with global raw materials and logistics markets
Experience negotiating and collaborating with international suppliers. Demonstrated success in advanced contract negotiation and supplier performance management in global markets for manufacturing, industrial, energy, or related sectors
Excellent negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management abilities
Strong financial acumen with the ability to manage budgets and drive cost efficiencies
Proficiency with procurement and ERP systems
Ability to manage multiple priorities, exhibit a sense of urgency, and maintain equilibrium in a fast-moving and changing startup environment
Demonstrated ability to contribute to the development of company objectives and principles to achieve goals in a creative and effective way
Ability to work on unique issues where the analysis of a situation requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors
Ability to work independently where work is reviewed upon completion and is consistent with departmental objectives
Strong decision-making capabilities and the ability to frequently advise others on complex matters
Accountable through team for delivery of tactical business targets
Ability to exercise judgement in selecting methods, evaluating, adapting of complex techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results
Strong analytical skills, with a focus on data-driven decision-making
Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite of programs including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, OneDrive, and SharePoint
Compensation
The anticipated starting pay range for this position is $140,000 - $160,000 yearly salary and may be more or less depending upon skills, experience, and education.
