What are the responsibilities and job description for the Production Supervisor position at Electri-Cord Maufacturing?
Overall Responsibility:
The Production Supervisor is on the frontline of Electri-Cord’s commitment to its customers to: “…ensure that only top-quality products leave our factory every day, every order, every time.” To that end, the Production Supervisor constantly builds the foundation of Electri-Cord’s Quality Policy: “Focus on the Customer, continuously improve products, and involving Production Associates…” daily. The Production Supervisor also holds key responsibility to develop the production team to align with the ECM Values and Guiding Principles.
Specifically, the Production Supervisor (PS) coordinates work on the Manufacturing floor, supervising and working collaboratively with the Manufacturing Lead(s) and all related cross-functional partners to accomplish production in a safe and efficient manner. The PS facilitates the plant to safely manufacture and ship good quality product on time according to ECM procedures. The PS is responsible for the achievement of daily production objectives including, but not limited to safety, product quality, process compliance, team performance, timely shipments, and housekeeping. The PS develops and analyzes KPI and data trends to create improvement and motivational strategies to improve safety, employee engagement, production methods, equipment performance, product quality, and efficiency.
Responsibilities
Ensure safety on production floor:
- Enforce all safety rules in the operation of the site, proactively addressing unsafe behavior in real-time in accordance with HR policies.
- Observe and enforce the building security rules for the assigned shift.
- Actively participate in or lead plant safety team to ensure a safe and healthy working environment for production employees.
Coach and Supervise Employees:
- Exercise and enforce ECM policies and procedures.
- Assure new employees are trained and evaluated.
- Review and approve employee performance appraisals.
- Conduct employee training or assign employee training to experienced workers.
- Confer with management, Manufacturing Lead(s), Production Associates, and / or HR to resolve associate problems, complaints, or grievances.
- Recommend or implement personnel actions, such as hiring, evaluations, and promotions.
- Hold regular and recurring shift and/or plant stand-up meeting for general communications to the broader team
- Execute disciplinary actions, as necessary, in compliance with the progressive discipline policy
Monitor Product Quality:
- Partner with Quality team on understanding issues impacting the quality of product and services to both external and internal customers
- Determine the quality of work performed and correct performance immediately through re-training and/or coaching.
- Monitor quality trends, by process and associate; develop plans, as needed, to improve the overall trend.
- Participate in quality management related processes, including management review, defect analysis, correct actions, and root cause analysis.
Monitor Production Performance:
- Coordinate respective resources, as needed, to ensure accuracy of documentation, work instructions, and quality control plans.
- Plan and establish work schedules, assignments, and production sequences to meet production goals.
- Follow the daily schedule required to meet production requirements and assure that correct procedures are followed.
- Create, read and analyze charts, work orders, production schedules, and other records and reports to determine production requirements and to evaluate current production estimates and outputs.
- Continuously monitor and track production and all revisions to Travelers and jobs.
- Coordinate the activities of employees engaged in production, working with other departments as necessary (e.g. Engineering or Quality Assurance).
- Maintain a knowledge of all orders in process and their status. Anticipate required changes.
- Respond to Production Associate requests for assistance and directions to assure that production is continuous and well-coordinated.
- Identify areas of improvement to safety, quality, defect reduction, efficiency, or cost save; develop plans to achieve respective improvements
- Manage material movement to ensure timely delivery of finished goods to shipping
Communicate Skillfully and Consistently
- Assure Production Associates are always aware of production and product quality requirements.
- Keep the respective leadership team members advised of orders and seek assistance when necessary.
- Confer with other supervisors to coordinate operations and activities within or between departments.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma / GED
- 5 years supervisory experience in manufacturing
- Substantial knowledge of various plant operations, visual management, and LEAN operations
- Possess basic reading, writing, math and comprehension skills
- Demonstrated ability to effectively read work orders/job travelers and work instructions
- Software skills: ERP/ MRP experience, Microsoft Office: (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint)

Pay: $75,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
