Overview
Electric Advantage, Inc. is seeking an experienced Fire Alarm Technician with a minimum of 5 years' experience and NICET certification. This position requires the ability to service, inspect and repair Fire Alarm systems for established commercial customers on a scheduled basis and must be available for on call rotation. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in field service, electrical and mechanical knowledge, and experience with alarm system sales.
Responsibilities
- Install, maintain, and repair alarm systems in commercial buildings.
- Conduct routine inspections and testing of alarm systems to ensure proper functionality.
- Respond to service requests, diagnose system malfunctions of fire alarms and adjust, repair or replace equipment as needed to bring into compliance.
- Fire Alarm System testing and inspection per NFPA and local code standards.
- Preparing accurate and timely inspection and service reports.
- Collaborate with customers to determine their fire alarm needs and recommend appropriate solutions.
- Provide guidance on the operation of alarm systems to customers.
Experience
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints accurately.
- Strong mechanical knowledge for system installations.
- NICET certification preferred.
- At least 3 years of hands-on experience.
- Experience with special hazard suppression system inspection and repair (FM200 and Halon) is a plus.
- Proficiency in testing and servicing fire alarm brands: Simplex, Notifier, and Fire-Lite.
- Availability for on-call scheduling.
- Comfortable working on ladders (6 to 12 ft) and lifts.
- Ability to lift up to 70 lbs and work in overhead, confined, or unusual spaces like attics and crawl spaces.
- Highly organized with the ability to manage service tickets and process required documents for each service.
- Strong communication skills for explaining work and necessary repairs to customers.
- Excellent writing skills with attention to detail in service documentation.
