We are currently seeking a NACE/SSPC/AMPP Level III Nuclear Coatings Inspector.
Job Description:
EMC uses a variety of coatings for different applications in pump and motor refurbishment including nuclear grade service level 1 coatings, specialized two-part epoxy coatings, and specialized electrical component coatings. The Nuclear Coatings Inspector will be part of the Quality Department and report to the Quality Assurance Director. The Nuclear Coatings Inspector will be responsible for providing inspection services, expertise, and advice for all coatings operations at EMC.
Qualifications:
- NACE/SSPC/AMPP Level 1 minimum, Level 2, 3, or Nuclear Coatings Inspection Specialty
- Minimum 10 years of hands-on inspection experience (or 7 years’ experience with an Associate’s Degree in related field, or 5 years’ experience with a Bachelor’s Degree in related field)
- Minimum 2 years of commercial nuclear coatings experience
- Current or previous certification per ASTM D4537 as a Level 1 or Level 2
- Ability to be qualified as a Level 3 Nuclear Grade Coatings Inspector required
Job Duties:
- Perform Nuclear Service Level Coatings Inspections and Certifications
- Qualify and supervise Level 1 and Level 2 Coatings Inspectors
- Train and qualify applicators
- Review Coating Specifications in RFP documents.
- Review the current coatings methods and advise on techniques and application equipment that will enhance the quality of the coatings application work.
- Interface with customers on coatings selection and application
- Stay current on all regulations and requirements that apply to coatings
- Continue to be active in AMPP and other coatings related trade groups
- Interface with the EMC QA Director on coatings requirements
- Write and edit coatings application and inspection procedures as needed
EMC is in the service business and must be able to meet customer required deadlines. The Nuclear Coatings Inspector is required to be able to work overtime and shift work as required by those schedules. The position is expected to evolve into a salaried one with supervisory responsibilities when additional inspectors and applicators are qualified.
