Position Summary
We are seeking a motivated and experienced Project Engineer to join our Engineering Department. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in supporting the aftermarket repair, modification, and design of electric motors and pumps. This position requires strong technical skills in SolidWorks, FEA, and a working knowledge of advanced simulation tools like ANSYS. A background in mechanical engineering and experience with ASME Section IX and commercial grade dedication (CGD) packages for Commercial Nuclear Power Plant equipment repairs are highly preferred.
Key Responsibilities
- Utilize SolidWorks for detailed part design, assemblies, and finite element analysis (FEA).
- Conduct advanced simulations using ANSYS to support design and modification projects.
- Develop and complete Commercial Grade Dedication (CGD) packages for Commercial Nuclear Power Plant equipment.
- Act as the department’s Welding Engineer, ensuring compliance with ASME Section IX standards and maintaining the existing welding program.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support aftermarket repair, modification, and new equipment design initiatives.
- Prepare engineering documentation, including drawings, specifications, and technical reports, ensuring adherence to internal standards and industry codes.
- Support reverse engineering efforts, leveraging tools such as laser trackers and advanced metrology equipment, when required.
- Perform failure analyses, providing recommendations for design improvements or repairs.
- Engage in project management activities, including task prioritization, scheduling, and cost estimation, to ensure project deliverables are met on time and within budget.
- Interface with clients, vendors, and internal teams to address technical challenges and ensure project success.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- 3-5 years of post-college experience in an engineering role.
- Proficient in SolidWorks, with expertise in part design, assemblies, and FEA.
- Experience with ANSYS for advanced simulation tasks.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Familiarity with engineering codes and standards applicable to electric motor and pump equipment, especially ASME Section IX.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience developing and completing Commercial Grade Dedication (CGD) packages for Commercial Nuclear Power Plant equipment.
- Hands-on experience with the repair, modification, and design of electric motors and pumps.
- Certification or formal training in welding engineering or quality assurance is a plus.
- Familiarity with industry standards such as IEEE, ASME NQA-1, and API for rotating equipment.
