Primary Objective of Position:
The primary objective of this position is two-fold – First, loading, unloading and reconciliation of job trailers efficiently, safely and accurately to ensure the high-quality delivery and return reconciliation of each. Second – this role is the primary mechanic to test, repair and maintain all tooling and equipment in the shop (i.e. dry ice machines, calibrated equipment, hand tools) except for welding machines.
Must possess a high degree of mechanical aptitude and repair skills as well as be able to communicate concisely, accurately and follow oral and written instructions.
Responsibilities/Tasks
Trailer Loading, Unloading and Reconciliation
- Accurately load appropriate equipment, materials and tooling into company vehicles and job trailers in a safe, timely and efficient manner.
- Responsible for all trailer loading and reconciliation processes including required checklists and reports.
- Responsible for proper packaging, loading, and securing of truck and trailer contents to ensure shipments are not damaged in transit.
- Inspects all tools and electrical equipment prior to loading to ensure it is safe and ready for use.
- Perform weekly quality and maintenance checks on trucks, tools, equipment and assets before placing assets back into inventory.
- During trailer unloading, perform inventory reconciliation after each company asset returns from the field and report on condition, missing items, and items needing repair or maintenance.
- Follows tool and equipment repair/maintenance procedure, properly tagging non-conforming items until they are received back in working condition and placed back into inventory.
Mechanic Functions
- Track, test and verify all company tools and equipment are properly maintained, stored and secured in shop and job trailers to avoid damage and to keep in high quality working order.
- Manage maintenance logs and perform testing and repair functions to ensure proactive equipment and tooling repair and maintenance is performed as required.
- Problem solves and trouble shoots vehicles and equipment when issues come up in order to determine what maintenance is needed.
- Properly use inventory/tracking systems to support real-time inventory
- Check tools, materials, and equipment in and out of the inventory/equipment and tool tracking systems on a real-time basis to keep Facilities & Inventory Manager’s reporting accurate.
Shop Safety, Organization, and Cleanliness
- Keep shop and equipment/material storage areas well organized, clean, safe and secure.
- Follows all housekeeping rules and processes.
- Safely operates skid steers, forklifts and/or other machinery used.
- Ability to determine and execute proper storage methods, identification, and stock location based on shelf life and space availability.
- Follows the receiving inspection process upon receipt of shop materials, tools, and equipment, as assigned.
ISO 9001 and Process Improvement
- Supports the effort of ISO 9001 and process improvement by recommending methods, equipment, techniques and other changes to improve department operations. Participates in internal audits, risk assessment and corrective actions as required. Writes and updates work instructions as needed and is proactive in documentation and control of processes.
