Job description
The Account Manager is accountable for strategic growth and support of assigned customers in the automotive OEM and tier markets. Responsibilities include developing strong relationships with customers, connecting with key stakeholders and preparing sales reports.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure high level of support for all assigned customers and prospective new customers; gaining new and maintaining existing business with the highest possible long-term profitability
- Engage in activities to enhance profitability i.e. raw material pass through, collection of obsolescence costs, terms compliance, cost reductions
- Partner with Customers’ Purchasing and Engineering Groups but also maintain relationship with other Customer Groups such as Operations, Scheduling, Quality
- Effectively manage time between supporting current business and developing new business in complex and dynamic environment
- Coordinate and lead regular business reviews with key customers, requires effective preparation, facilitation and follow-up
- Collaborate with supervisor to develop an annual sales plan and to achieve or exceed the sales
- Work collaboratively and strategically with ECI technical groups to develop new business opportunities and execute cost take out activities at assigned customers
- Lead negotiation of customer contracts and coordination of ECI internal team members following defined process
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university. Technical degree is preferred but not required.
- Minimum 3 years of strategic selling with strong preference for industry experience within the supply base similar to Omni; specifically in a transportation, agriculture and construction, automotive, or similar OEM
- Strong communication skills with ability to interface with internal and external customers in fast paced and complex environment
- Effective presentation, negotiation and communication skills, both oral and written
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Strategic mindset and consultative selling approach
- History of execution and delivering results
- Proven analytical and problem-solving skills; strong critical thinking skills required
- General business skills including negotiation, organization, good judgement, emotional intelligence, initiative and ability to drive results with a diverse cross functional team.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially PowerPoint and Excel
- Must be willing to travel frequently (up to 40%)
- Business acumen with a solution-oriented approach
- Must have an extremely proactive approach and take strong initiative and ownership
