What We’re Looking For

We are seeking a full-time OSP Operator with a passion for service and telecom construction.

Major Expectations & Accountabilities

  • Commits to working safely every day and focuses on continued development and education related to safe work practices.
  • Collaborates with the EPS Telecom Services Division and operates equipment while performing assigned duties in accordance with EPS quality standards.
  • Performs physical labor tasks not limited to digging or trenching with shovels, operating mini-excavators, and other equipment.
  • Responsible for driving and operating bucket trucks and pulling trailers with equipment to work sites. A Class A Driver's License is required for this position.
  • Assists in the operation of equipment in the restoration of the construction project area and works closely with the Directional Drilling Team while working around existing utilities and manhole covers.
  • Duties and responsibilities include to help maintain equipment.

What You’ll Need to Be Successful

  • Eligible to work in the United States without visa sponsorship
  • Must be 18 years or older
  • A valid Class A driver’s license with a good driving record.
  • Basic understanding of the OSP Telecom Industry and working with fiber.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Will need to be able to see and identify colors.
  • Outstanding customer service skills and possesses a keen sense for detail.
  • Ability to have good foresight to help anticipate changes in conditions and operations to the greatest extent possible and the ability to react and provide assistance as needed.

Qualifications Set You Apart

  • Proficiency in operating equipment including excavators, skid steer, boom trucks, vac truck
  • OSP Telecom experience and knowledge of fiber installation and restoration services
  • OSHA 10 and first aid certifications
  • Basic mechanical and troubleshooting skills
  • A Medical Health Card

Compensation Range for a OSP Operator

  • Starting compensation is based on your relevant job experience
  • This role is non-exempt and eligible for overtime compensation
  • The pay range for this role is between $30 to $45 per hour

Physical Requirements/Essential Functions

  • Be able to give and receive detailed information through verbal and written communication.
  • Operate motor vehicles, driving to and from work sites, corporate offices, and vendor locations.
  • Sufficient vision to read instructions, blueprints, documents, etc., as well as to drive in daylight and at night and to avoid hazards on the job site. Must be able to distinguish colors in order to identify wiring color codes.
  • Apply extensive physical mobility (manual dexterity, reaching, bending, climbing, crawling, kneeling, arm and leg extension) to supervise and perform routine activities including the ability to climb stairs and ladders, run conduit, etc.
  • Possess extensive arm and hand mobility and strength to lift, hold, reach, carry, push and pull commonly used materials. Able to use power and hand tools on construction site. Able to move tools and materials into and out of vehicles.
  • Regularly lift and move 20 - 35 pounds. Occasionally lift up to 50 to 100 pounds.
  • Walk over uneven terrain, over debris and other obstacles.
  • Regularly withstand Minnesota hot and cold weather conditions to perform outdoor responsibilities.
