Abrasive Blasting Technician: PA

Reports to: Operations Manager

Non-Exempt position

Job Location: On-site, Emmaus, PA

Job Type: Full Time

Responsible to clean, carbon or stainless-steel surfaces by forcefully projecting a stream of abrasive material (like slag or grit) onto the surface, removing contaminants like rust, paint, or scale with specialized equipment to prepare it for further processing or finishing; and maintain blasting equipment while adhering to safety protocols to achieve the desired surface finish.

Job Responsibilities:

• Perform blasting work by reading traveler instructions and following the supervisor’s schedule
• Abrasive blasts parts as necessary
• Ensure visual and profile acceptance for quality assurance
• Apply primer coat according to procedures to ensure optimal adhesion
• Serve as a safety watch to other blast operators
• Maintain a clean and safe working area
• Maintain safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations
• In any environment, always follow safety standards and wear proper protective gear
• Perform other tasks or additional responsibilities as assigned by supervisor

Education and Experience:

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Valid Driver’s license
• Basic mathematic skills
• Good communication skills
• Good cooperative skills; ability to work in a team environment
• Must be able to travel and work overtime when required

Physical Requirements:

• Work in confined spaces.
• Occasional repetitive movement of fingers, hands, and wrist.
• Must be able to bend, kneel, stand and sit various times throughout the time.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Must be able to use respiratory protection when required.
