What are the responsibilities and job description for the Chemical Operator I position at Electro-Coatings of Iowa?
The Chemical Operator Trainee will be responsible for maintaining the safety and efficiency of plant operations by performing the following responsibilities. Tasks include, but are not limited to:
· Safely collecting and handling chemical bath samples.
· Test chemical bath samples and maintain records of observations.
· Moving and maneuvering chemical drums and totes.
· Storing, retrieving, and monitoring chemicals used in the production process.
· Assist in operating a basic treatment waste system.
· Troubleshooting issues with production equipment and processes.
· Performing basic EH&S inspections

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED). Experience with basic lab work and driving forklifts is preferred but can train the right candidate.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
The employee must maintain the ability to read and interpret documents such as blueprints schematics, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. The employee must also have the ability to write basic instructions and information.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
REASONING ABILITY
The employee must have the ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. The employee must maintain the ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to handle or feel. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, climb ladders, and drive forklifts. The employee must be able to assist in moving 55gal drums. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
The employee must maintain the ability to wear protective equipment such as safety shoes, safety glasses, respirator, and hearing protection.
