Wrightsville, GA Full Time
POSTED ON 2/13/2025

About us

Electro-Mech Scoreboard Company has been in business in Wrightsville, Georgia since 1963 manufacturing electronic scoreboards for baseball, basketball, football, and other sports. The company is privately owned and employs approximately 60 people in Wrightsville.

Here are two seeming contradictions about working for Electro-Mech. It can feel chaotic because the jobs here -- especially those in the Support Services department -- are not rigidly defined. Yet there is stability (perhaps even constraint) rooted in the fact that we have a bunch of people who have stayed with the company for a LONG time. Most of us have been at Electro-Mech for over a decade -- many for even longer. It is a family environment with loyalty flowing in both directions between the company and the employees. We have customers who also fall into these kinds of long term relationships with Electro-Mech.

If you work best with clear short-term objectives, immediate feedback, step-by-step guidance, definite structure, regular performance reviews, and explicit rules, well... Electro-Mech might not be right for you. However, if you thrive best when you have more freedom, you may be a good fit.

Electro-Mech's Customer Service department provides support for pretty much everyone -- from our customers and potential customers to other departments within the company. We assist with sales, shipping, repair, and production. But the primary mission is to provide technical support to people who purchase, install, service, or use our equipment. Some days, this boils down to taking lots of phone calls from people who are trying to fix our products in the field. At times when phone calls are lighter, we expect our Customer Service Reps to stay busy following up with customer cases and orders, assisting with projects both inside and outside the department, training to better understand and improve our products as well as our internal systems, and, occasionally, visiting our customers to provide onsite service.

Although specific knowledge of basic electronics and other technical information is an important part of the work, much of this can be learned on the job. The key to success in this position boils down to how you interact with people -- mainly with our customers, but also with the other employees. We can teach you facts about our products, but we cannot teach you how to keep a cool head and provide clear, logical advice to a customer who may be frustrated and testy about whatever problem he or she is experiencing. Your ability to convey a professional attitude, to think on your feet, to read the emotion of a situation, to interpret conflicting accounts of a problem, to exude the confidence that, even if you don't know the answer to someone's question, you can be trusted to follow through with finding the answer -- these qualities define the kind of support we want to give our customers.
