Electrical Wiring Technician

This position is a union position and reports to the Operations Manager
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Reads and interprets process plans, specifications, procedures, and policies.
- Interprets schematics, wire lists, and supplied specifications to perform required control and power wiring.
- Performs hand assembly operations such as mounting components on back pans, crimping and stripping wire.
- Assembles and wires electrical distribution equipment per applicable instructions and generally accepted practices.
- Perform assigned work to time standards and quality expectations.
- Conducts test operations utilizing various bench test equipment to verify proper wiring of product.
- Completes all checklists prior to delivering product to quality department.
- Communicates with management, project management and engineering staff to ensure work performed correlates with expectations.
- Records all deviations and modifications from original design.
- Participates in continuous improvement of processes.
- Maintains correct time reporting and accurate entries on manufacturing and inspection records.
- Make routine decisions and use problem solving to resolve basic manufacturing issues or seek assistance.
- · Must be able to measure dimensions and compare to drawing specifications as well as be able to complete/pass a basic mathematics test.
- Comply with safety procedures and regulations.
- Maintain work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition.
- Other duties as assigned by the manager.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- High school diploma/GED is required.
- Associates degree in related field preferred.
- 1-3 years of experience in electrical wiring.
- Must be able to read and understand wiring diagrams, wire lists, schematics and follow written or verbal instructions.
- Ability to work in a changing, fast-paced custom manufacturing environment and handle multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Must be able to work both independently and in a team environment to the highest quality achievable with minimal assistance from Manager.
- Must be able to maintain regular and reliable attendance.
- Ability to effectively communicate well with others in English, both verbally and in writing.
- Strong work ethic with attention to detail.
- Must be willing to work overtime.
- Must be able to measure dimensions and compare to drawing specifications as well as be able to complete/pass a basic mathematics test.
- Comply with safety procedures and regulations.
Work environment: Work is performed in a custom manufacturing production facility with typical manufacturing noise. This position is a union position, after the 90-day introductory period.
Physical Requirements:
- Continually performs a wide range of physical activities which include pulling, reaching, bending over, climbing, balancing, and kneeling.
- Frequently must be able to climb, stretch and maneuver on ladders.
- Vision and hearing are required.
- Occasionally must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Frequently stand for long periods of time.
Salary and Benefits: The base salary range for this position is $27.01-$30 per hour. EMI offers employee benefits including medical, dental, life insurance, long term disability, 401k & matching, voluntary Aflac benefits, paid vacation, employee safe and sick time (ESST), and paid holiday.
