Press Brake Operator

Electro-Mechanical Industries, Inc. (EMI), a family-owned custom manufacturer located in the western suburbs of Minneapolis. EMI has 43 years of steady growth and product innovation, provides products and services to commercial customers in the Midwest Region.

Press Brake Operator will support fabrication operations by processing sheet steel for shearing to project specifications. The fabrication team member will set-up operate equipment located in the fabrication department such as shear, punches and press, laser. This operator will use all available resources to perform assigned duties in a safe and efficient manner. The right individual will be flexible as working hours may occasionally extend beyond regular business hours.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

· Assemble, repair and fabricate custom metal parts by operating mechanical equipment such as Shears, Automated punches, Press Brake, Laser and other fabrication equipment.

· Utilizes designs and plans to assure proper dimensions and tolerances are achieved.

· Works closely with other team members and the department lead and/or Production Supervisor.

· Open bundles of materials with cutters, sorting stock, responsible for measuring/confirming size, type and thickness.

· Communicate and coordinate with team members to sustain a quality finished product that meets or exceeds EMI drawings and specifications.

· Must be able to measure dimensions and compare to drawing specifications.

· Maintains a safe and clean working environment and adheres to procedures, codes and safety regulations.

· Other duties as assigned to meet customer requirements including, mechanical assembly.

· Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job.

· Ability to effectively use hand tools and power tools to assemble customized units.

· Ability to read and interpret work instructions, engineering documentation and blueprints.

· Strong mechanical and mathematical aptitude as well as being able to complete/pass a basic mathematics test.

· Ability to effectively communicate well with others in English, both verbally and in writing.

Education and Experience:

· High school diploma/GED or more is preferred - equivalent experience will be considered.

· Forklift experience preferred.

· 3 year(s) previous experience operating metal fabrication equipment such as a shear, turret, press brake and laser.

Physical Demands:

· This position is required to routinely lift up to 50 lbs., repeatedly throughout the shift.

· Stand for extended periods of time.

· Continually perform a wide range of physical activities which include pulling, reaching, bending over, crouching, lifting, climbing, balancing, and kneeling.

Personal Protective Equipment:

· Steel toe shoes, safety glasses, and gloves.

Work Environment:

· Work is performed in a custom manufacturing production facility with typical manufacturing noise.

· Exposed to shop elements such as noise and dust.

Work Hours:

Typical hours for this position are Monday – Friday from 6 am to 2:30 pm. However, to complete job duties and deadlines, this position may require overtime and/or working at non-regular hours as needed.

Salary and Benefits: The base salary range for this position is $22-$23 per hour. EMI offers employee benefits including medical, dental, life insurance, long term disability, 401k & matching, voluntary Aflac benefits, paid vacation, employee safe and sick time (ESST), paid holidays and a personal day.
