The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for engineering and designing the mechanical portion of products provided by the company. The primary work includes reviewing quotes and providing designs for low, medium and high voltage electrical power distribution equipment including but not limited to switchgear, substations, power centers, starters and custom designs; while subsequently directing project designs toward standardization.
Responsibilities :
- Design electrical power equipment as directed by the engineering manager, lead engineer, and senior engineer.
- Provide direction for the designers and draftsmen as needed.
- Participate in quote and order reviews.
- Review approval drawings with lead or senior engineer prior to sending to customers.
- Review all manufacturing drawings and BOM's for the jobs assigned, prior to release to the shop floor.
- Complete drafting, editing drawings, bill of material creation, and other tasks as workloads dictate.
- Interface and provide technical support for marketing, customers, manufacturing, quality, regulatory agencies and standards groups.
- Meet the master schedule promise dates for the jobs assigned.
- Ensure that department goals and objectives are met using a team approach.
- Assist development and maintenance of department procedures.
- Direct and participate in research and cost savings projects as instructed by the lead engineer or engineering manager.
- Maintain a safe working environment by utilizing methods, tools, and equipment that comply with federal regulations and company safety requirements.
- Adhere to and comply with all company policies and procedures.
- Adjust working hours to assist company in meeting goals and objectives.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
