Position Summary:

The Electronic Repair Technician is a senior technical expert who monitors production, provides training and serves as a mentor for assigned work group. Provides oversight and technical triage for vendor repair items and customer complaints and verifies automation and pool standards used by the work group. Maintains current knowledge of new technologies and products. Repairs and calibrates equipment as necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Performs repairs and calibrations as necessary and maintains records of tests and services performed; enters required information in the Company’s database.
  • Assists in the development of an OJT (On the Job Training) program and trains and assists other technicians as necessary.
  • Maintains and recommends calibration standards for the equipment pool.
  • Oversees equipment triage and pre-vendor repair evaluations and automation verifications
  • Audits calibration procedures used by work group and evaluates product configurations and technical procedures and recommends changes as appropriate.
  • Maintains technical skills and stays current with product technology and specifications.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned, in accordance with business needs and organizational goals.

Qualifications

  • Requires an in-depth understanding of metrology principles and repair techniques. 
  • Experience normally gained through six to eight (6-8) years working in electronic troubleshooting and repair, plus one year in a specialization.
  • Knowledge and skills typically gained through the achievement of a PMEL certification or a technical degree in electronics. 
  • Possess an extensive working knowledge of industry standards and quality practices including ISO-9002, ISO-17025 and ANSI Z540-1.
  • Knowledge of instrumentation/diagnostic programming and the ability to modify or create automated test/calibration programs is expected.
  • Possess good interpersonal and mentoring skills as well as the ability to perform as a technical liaison.
  • Must be proficient in PC operation and use as it pertains to instrument controllers and automated calibration procedures
  • Must be proficient in the products of the work group.
  • Must be detailed oriented and could work multiple tasks assigned.
  • Requires good written and verbal communication skills

 

Experience & Education

  • Six (6) years minimum working in electronic troubleshooting and repair, plus one year in a specialization.
  • 2 years electronic or technical degree required

 

*Compensation range between $45 and $54 an hour depending on experience.

Physical Requirements

 

  • All positions will require, to some degree, the physical abilities described below to perform the essential functions of the job
  • Work the expected hours, consistently arrive at work at the agreed time and follow Company rules and guidelines regarding breaks and meal periods.  Full time is typically considered to be 40 hours per week
  • Communicate effectively, both oral and written.
  • Move around and through all work areas as needed, may include climbing stairs or ladders
  • Lift and/or move up to 10 pounds (i.e. books, reports, binders etc.)
  • Regularly sit at the assigned workstation
  • Use keyboard or equivalent equipment, to access the computer,
  • Use hands to manipulate documents and general paperwork to view contents
  • Read documents, reports, files etc.
  • Communicate effectively using the telephone
  • In addition to the above physical requirements warehouse and field support positions require the ability to lift 50 pounds of equipment or boxes above the head, alone; or with help, lift 150 pounds.

Salary : $45 - $54
